Reciprocity in the Transformation of Shame into Self-Love

30m · Published 05 Oct 10:00
Today's guest Nancy Gordon shares about her chapter in the upcoming book, "Therapists Are Human Too: The Healing Journey of Reciprocity". In her chapter, Nancy shares the “un-sharable” by coming out of the closet of shame. When the metal of Nancy’s car collided with another, her path was forever changed. In both her personal and professional life journey, that life-defining moment of the car accident began a trail of other life-defining moments, some painful, some profoundly transformational. When Nancy shared her personal journey of living with and healing a traumatic brain injury with a new client, Jean, who also was grappling with the effects of a traumatic brain injury, Nancy experienced one of the most profound life-defining moments as a therapist and as a human being: the reciprocity of healing between healer and client. Through the authenticity of being a human while being a gifted healer, sharing shame transformed loss into love and grief into growth, and led us to a path of unconditional self-love. Join Julie Ann and Nancy as they chat about this topic in today's episode, from the book "Therapists Are Human Too: The Healing Journey of Reciprocity", which will be released on Nov 7th, 2023.

Baby Samuel and Me: Stories of Adoption Across Generations

23m · Published 31 Aug 19:58
Tami talks about her chapter in the upcoming book, "The Reciprocity of Therapy" in which she writes of faith and unconditional love when describing her transition from orphan to a cherished member of a compassionate family. After raising her own children, she attained her college degree, became a social worker assisting couples in applying to foster and/or adopt children to complete their families. This work brought deep gratitude for the faith, trust, and courage her own family exemplified in adopting her. Rather than believing the notion of rejection by her birth mother and family, one little boy’s adoption enabled Tami to accept her own adoption as a true gift from God. Tami experienced a true miracle by being in the energy of gratitude when she returned home to find an email from 23 and Me, from a 100% blood sister! Amy, (her sister) is joining Tami in Puerto Vallarta for the book launch. Join Julie Ann and Tami as they chat about this topic in today's episode, one of a series of 10 episodes from the book "The Reciprocity of Therapy" which will be released on Nov 7th, 2023.
