The work we do on our business and in tending to relationships and managing your finances will pay off in the future. We speak to Hariz about how freelancers can diversify their risks and build up different sources of passive income, including working on their intellectual property

Hariz Maloy had his voic on almost any platform available; Musical theatre, Film, Radio, Emceeing events, even performing original music on the stages of the Esplanade.

However in the last few years, Hariz has transitioned to pursue his business interests in digital marketing, copywriting, and now finance. He manages the personal wealth of individuals and tours across South East Asia, promoting seminars and books to other financial advisors on financial advisory.

We speak to Kris Mavericko and Renita Kapoor, who have acted as a son and mother in After_Life, a short film developed under STOREYS. As the coronavirus spreads globally, local creative companies and freelancers start to bear theblunt of economic fallout with projects being canceled or postponed.

We are excited to speak to Nicholas Chee, founder of SG COVID-19 Creative/Cultural Professionals & Freelancers Support Group, who has been active in bringing our diverse creativity community together from painters, drama educators to cameraman and illustrators, as well as engaging with the media and government bodies to raise awareness of the plight.

How can we professionalise our creativity industry? Why is it important for us to look to regional markets to expand? What can we do to survive and grow our industry post cover-19?

About Nicholas Chee

NicholasCheeis an award-winning Film Director, Producer and Consultant for film and media projects. He graduated fromTemasek Design School majoring in Photography in 2003 and in September 2007, he co-founded Singapore’s first independenttheatre; Sinema Old School.

Nicholaswas an Honouree in the prestigious Spirit of Enterprise Awards in 2009 and in 2011, he started The Flying Kick Asia, an original and branded content production company based in Singapore, Kaohsiung and Seoul.

In 2015,Nicholascreated *SCAPE’s National Youth Film Awards, a national platform to recognise and bridge emerging talent with the film industry and served as its AwardsDirector from 2015-2018.

He is currently also the Festival Co-Director for SeaShorts Film Festival, a short film festival focusing on Southeast Asian short films based in Malaysia.
