Dominicana - How Reading Fiction Will Change Your Life And Help You Develop Empathy

38m · Published 28 Aug 02:19
People don't change from facts - they learn through emotion. Reading fiction is the best way to change your life and perspective. It allows you to experience the world through someone else's eyes, and your ego won't be threatened. After all, it's fiction, right? In this podcast, I discuss one of the best books I've read this year (or in my life) called Dominicana by Angie Cruz. It describes the immigrant experience of a young 15-year old girl from the Dominican countryside who is married to a 30 something year old man she doesn't love in order to move to New York and try to make a better life for herself and her family. As always, thank you for listening and for sharing this podcast. If you have any comments or feedback, please feel free to email me at [email protected] Have a wonderful day!
