Our first episode of 2021! In this episode, Joe and Joanna join Paul for a discussion about their favourite books of 2020, as well as what they’re most looking forward to in 2021! As I said at the start, please excuse some of the audio issues that plagued parts of the episode - it shouldn’t hamper your enjoyment too much and we should have those fixed soon! The next part of this episode focuses on films and TV and a little discussion about what they’d like to leave in 2020! Look out for that in two weeks time! Head over to @gettinlittypod on Instagram to give us your thoughts!

Hello-ho-ho and thank you for listening to this Christmas special of our beloved Gettin’ Litty, featuring myself - Paul - and my good pal Joanna Jenkins! Today we’re talking about all things Christmas but literary. What films/tv shows do we watch to get us into the festive spirit? Are there any controversial opinions therein? You bet! We even found some time to (inevitably) discuss Taylor Swift! Please let us know what you thought on Instagram - you can find us at @gettinlittypod! Merry Christmas! PS: it’s never too early.

This week, Paul is joined by legend👏🏻icon👏🏻star👏🏻 Joanna Jenkins. In this episode, we’re talking about instances where (one of) the sequels is better than the original film that preceded it. All of the films we discuss are Disney related in some way (one of them is Touchstone Pictures which is a Disney-owned studio) but we are in no way endorsed by them - I WISH! We hope you enjoy. As always, any questions or comments can be directed to Instagram, our username is @gettinlittypod.

A wee off the cuff offering for you here tonight. Paul goes solo to talk about what he’s been reading and watching through lockdown and furlough to try and keep some semblance of positive mental health, and lemme tell ya, it’s not been easy! Paul also has some tips at the end that have worked for him to try and help you get through this whole sitch as best as possible in one piece. As always, I’m free for a chat on Instagram (@gettinlittypod). You can also follow Paul’s reading journey on Goodreads. Come see what’s on his shelves (oooh matron)! We’re back! Sorry we’ve been away a wee while, but it’s tricky to find the motivation to be positive when that’s not how you really feel, but we’re here now and we’re chatting about some famous examples of book to film “flops”. But wait! Why is that in inverted commas, I’m sure the eagle-eyed among you will be asking. We’ll talk a little about the definition of a flop and some films that fall into the category of the accepted communal definition of a flop. Don’t forget to give us a follow on Instagram (@gettinlittypod) and you can subscribe to us on most major podcast platforms to be notified when new episodes are available! Take care!

In a continuation of the ‘in defence of’ series, Paul valiantly attempts (and struggles, frankly) to defend the Twilight Saga, which, in the intervening years since the release of the books and their movie adaptations, have fallen foul of some fairly intense criticism and analysis (and people already had strong opinions when they first came out). Paul explores some of that criticism and analysis and attempts to justify why you should still read the books and watch the films and enjoy doing either/or. Keep listening to the end of the episode as we go through some comments from listeners of our previous episodes as well as suggestions for future episodes. If you’d like to make suggestions or let us know if you enjoyed (or didn’t enjoy) the episode, you can get in touch on Instagram: @gettinlittypod.

Today, Paul and Joe are gonna talk a little about literary things to help you escape thinking about *you know what*. We are rudely interrupted in the middle by a mouse, and the language is a bit naughty because that’s just who we are, and also we got a fright off the mouse so swear a wee bit afterwards too. In this episode, Paul is joined by boyfriend Joe once more to discuss the value in remaking movies and reviving plays/musicals (though it mostly leans towards theatre) and what the reasons might be as to why we revisit tried and tested formulae. We call it spitballing because there’s no right or wrong answer - just lots of discussion. Be sure to follow on Instagram- @gettinlittypod

Phew! In a change to the scheduled programming (mooted on Instagram - @gettinlittypod) I will be talking attempting to defend (solo, I might add) ‘Love Never Dies’ - the 2010 sequel to Andrew Lloyd Webber’ seminal ‘Phantom of the Opera’. It’s a little rambly and I’ve been trying to do it all weekend, but it’s finally recorded. Hope you like it! Give us a follow and some feedback over on Instagram (@gettinlittypod) and tune in next week for...another episode?
