S2 E7: Boundaries

49m · Published 18 Feb 20:53

Hey Sis Hey!!!

Do you know what boundaries are? When you hear the word boundary does it give you heart palpitations ? Do you start to sweat or get anxious? I know I have AND still do. Boundaries are tools that help us uphold our values and our priorities. They are for us, created by US. As Black women, a lot of times, I think we go with the flow because we feel like we have to and because we don't think we have options.

Sis, i'm here to tell you that that is NOT the case. The test came back and its a lie! It was all a lie lol.

Lets have a conversation on why boundaries are important, why we shouldn't be afraid of them, and how they can empower us on our self-love journey.

Sis sit back and get comfortable because I'm spilling tea.

S2 E6: Respect the Process --Self-love is a Journey

20m · Published 11 Feb 06:00

Hey Sis!!

I think as Black women we can't afford to put our total care in someone else and now that we have started to identify what some of our own love languages are and how we might be able to cater to ourselves, today I wanted to talk a little bit about how we can assist ourselves through our self-love journey.

As I work through my own self-love journey and confronting perfectionism, I've begun to realize the silent ways that perfectionism has interfered with my own ability to love and fully accept myself. Everyone loves a good aesthetic these days... and same. But sometimes I think we forget that reality is not always aesthetically pleasing...its not always as cute and tidy as we would want...it's not perfect.

Sis lets have a chat about self love and our collective voyage to wellness.

Inhale. Exhale. It's going to be ok.

xoxo

S2 E5: What's Your Love Language?

25m · Published 04 Feb 05:46

Hey Sis!! Happy February and Happy Black History Month!

This month we will be pouring love into ourselves.. its giving for us by us, BIG PUR! Romantic and platonic love is a beautiful thing, especially when the feelings are mutual. But I truly believe the best love is indeed, SELF love. Before you can form healthy bonds with people, your first and greatest love should always be with self. Especially as Black women-- to know and love ourselves appropriately, is not only an act of resistance but necessary when the world works overtime to show how much they do not care for us.

How many times have we heard, you cant pour from an empty cup? Sis, take a seat. This month relax your nerves and prioritize you. Self love is self care and this month we are highlighting the ways we can love on ourselves just a little bit more. When was the last time you treated yourself? When was the last time you did something for yourself and made your self feel good? When was the last time you said no? When was the last time you said, HELL NO? (lol)

And since it's February and everyone is talking about their love language--sis whats yours?

S2 E4: Know Your Worth and Then Add Tax

25m · Published 28 Jan 05:00

Hey Sis!

This is a PSA to all Black Women, we are no longer negotiating our worth. Sometimes I think we forget who we are and find ourselves in positions where we are constantly having to prove ourselves to the world. Being a Black woman isn't for the faint, especially when racists, sexists society is working overtime to make us think we have to accept the bare minimum. No, ma'am. "Not on my watch!".

I've been on a self love journey to rediscover my own worth and this journey aint been no hoe lol
Join me in a conversation on self-esteem vs self worth.

Sis, hold onto your edges and lets have a chat.

Sis, let me tell you whats tea.

Episode 3 : Disappointments

35m · Published 12 Aug 02:57

Sis, if you're anything like me, I know you hate that you don't always get your way. I mean whats a girl got to do? Am I asking for too much? Geesh.

Perhaps in the perfect world that would be the case, but here on Earth, I guess I'll have to settle. Ughh. But honestly, who likes to be told no? Or told that what you wanted isn't going to happen like how you planned. Accepting disappointments can be a tough pill to swallow. No one likes them. But lets talk about why you should, maybe.......(learn to) love them? I know, I know what you're thinking! (Sis come again?!)... lol

Secure your edges sis. Lets talk.

Episode 1 : Perfectionism is the New Imposters Syndrome

32m · Published 08 Jul 15:58

There you go. Doubting yourself AGAIN! Ughhh... Don't you hate it. <<inserts sad face :( >>

For many us, the battle with Imposter's Syndrome is REAL. Despite knowing that we are qualified, that we have what it takes, that we are INDEED good enough... something in else tells us we aren't. This vicious cycle of going back and forth and constantly doubting yourself, can ultimately be very damaging to one's sense of agency and power.  The around-the-clock internal struggle between achieving success and being afraid of being “found out" can be almost paralyzing. Stopping you in your tracks. Stopping you in your journey to growth, to success, to feeling liberated.  And for Black women especially, the intersectionality of race and sex both bring about unique challenges in how we navigate through these muddy waters. Sis, let's talk about it.
