Who Says Our Thoughts Are True?

28m · Published 31 Jul 02:32

“The only time we suffer is when we believe a thought that argues with what is.” – Byron Katie

You know that experience of getting sucked into a cycle of negative thoughts? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have freedom from those thoughts (the “shoulds”) that steal your happiness and peace of mind?

So did we! Then we were introduced to the magical human being that is Byron Katie, and began to fill our mindfulness toolkits with “The Work”.

Byron Katie believes suffering is created when we want reality to be different than it actually is. “The Work” teaches us how to question our thoughts in order to break free of that suffering.

Join us as we dive deeper into “The Work” and discover the power of the “Judge Your Neighbor” worksheet. What are some of the nagging “shoulds” that you’re trying to break free from? Share with us at [email protected]!

Who Says You Can’t Have Bad Days?

40m · Published 08 Jul 17:16

Not us! Though we sometimes judge ourselves when we do.

That’s why today’s episode is about normalizing the experience of “bad days”. Maybe that's when you’re feeling upset and frustrated about something that happened, or you’re just fed up with how life is going.

Oftentimes we feel guilty about the bad days. We think, “I should be better than this” or “I have the tools to shift my mindset, I should be able to just get over it!” Yup, there is such a thing as transformation shaming.

It's time to kick those judgmental thoughts to the curb, so join us as we share what’s behind our bad days and what supports us in getting back on track. Spoiler alert, the starting point is actively choosing to get out of the negativity swirl but sometimes that first step is a doozy.

And that’s okay! We’ve got you - so bring your lovely, perfectly imperfect self to the episode and join the (pity) party, lol! And don't forget to send us your thoughts to [email protected].

26m · Published 06 May 21:47

Welcome back to another episode in our self-care series!

Join us as we talk about the connection between self-care and the plans we put off for “some day”. We discuss how easy it is to talk ourselves out of trying something new and exciting, and the joy of finally honoring those desires.

Who Says Self-Care is a Luxury?

38m · Published 15 Apr 23:50

Getting regular pedicures, facials, and massages are often viewed as indulgent or a luxury - which is why we often talk ourselves out of “indulging” in them. But have you noticed that you similarly quibble about carving out time for yourself to indulge in reading a book, taking a walk, or going to the gym?

Me-time doesn’t have to cost anything, yet we hedge about it just as we do about spending money on spa services.

In this episode, we continue the theme of self-care and how we often relegate our physical and mental care to the bottom of the to-do list. What if we didn’t view these self-care activities as “nice-to-haves” but instead as sacred necessities? Join us as we discuss the benefits of spending our time and money on ourselves and how important it is to fill our cups first.
