She speaks to us about how the shooting at her college changed the whole course of her life from being a professional actress to her current business, helping others manifest their highest frequency and purpose in life. The shooting impacted her so deeply that she needed to heal herself from thoughts of taking her own life to channeling her spirit guides and realizing her own purpose and truth. Jenn speaks to Marta Magdalena, co-founder with her husband John Tattva of Ashtanga Nilayam, Singapore. Marta’s journey took her from Poland, to being a former architect in Berlin running her own ashtanga yoga shala back in 2010 visiting India yearly to now residing in Singapore since 2018. She shares her early encounters with yoga, choices in career path, how meeting her husband was one of the boldest move she has made in her life, what her yoga path continues to teach her even through her entire pregnancy journey! About Marta:

Marta is a dedicated yoga practitioner and teacher granted with Level 2 Authorization from Sharath Jois to teach Astanga Yoga. She has a daily self-practice of asana and meditation and almost 15 years of experience on the mat.

Through her own history of injuries, Marta developed a sense of compassion and understanding towards the students with limited physical abilities. While working with athletes and clients from various sports' backgrounds, she learned how to incorporate the knowledge of human body and anatomy, to provide the students with healthy and personalized practice.

Influenced by the spiritual teachers, among others Thich Nhat Hanh, BKS Iyengar and S.N. Goenka, Marta has been for almost a decade inspiring and motivating her students to change their attitude towards life through the disciplined daily yoga practice. She's also passionate about Ayurveda and constantly studies to understand more about the connection between one's mind, body and soul.

Jenn speaks to Andy Curtain founder of former Shanghai based Kung Fu Komedy. Having just graduated from law school in Melbourne, Andy decided to leave Australia and move to China to explore the world. He started off finding 9-5 jobs then stumbled upon creating a community with other comedians to share laughter with people living in China. Comedy clubs popped up in major non-Western cities around the world from around 2009. Then in 2010 Andy and his business partners founded the first comedy club in China, Kung Fu Komedy. From the many ups and downs of this journey of building this community Andy shares the many pivotal points that he went through and learned in the process to where he is at today. Andy Curtain, moved to Shanghai in 2009 from Melbourne, and lived an insane 10 years there before moving to Hong Kong.

From 2010 to 2017 China’s opening up to the world hit a peak and Shanghai became the most exciting place to live on earth. Until it all came crashing down.

Andy started China’s local comedy scene, launched several comedy clubs, toured the country performing standup in English and Chinese, worked on the online series Mamahuhu, got squashed by the Cultural Bureau, married a Russian Korean, has two kids, and sort of lived to tell the tale.

Jenn speaks to Freddie Valente-Perfeito, a yoga teacher based in Madeira, Portugal! A lawyer in her past life, Freddie discovered yoga in 2014 and has not looked back since. She then went on her self-growth journey traveling around Asia teaching yoga in India, Bali, Costa Rica, and Sri Lanka (where we met at Soul & Surf Retreat)! Besides for letting Freddie share her corporate to yoga journey I wanted to add that she has the most amazing Spotify playlist for working out and practicing yoga! So have a listen to it too! About Freddie:

Frederica Valente Perfeito, was born and raised in Madeira Island, a Portuguese Island in the Atlantic Ocean. She always wanted to be a lawyer, but once she began her studies, she felt something was wrong, she didn't know what so she continued studying and then working for almost 8 years as a lawyer until the had an epiphany in a music festival, where she realized she was unhappy, no self-love, no love for her lifestyle.

She decided to practice yoga in Lisbon and quickly something clicked, she quit her law career, left for India and never looked back. Freddie has 500hrs of TTC under her belt and has worked at surf and yoga camps in Portugal, Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, teaches yoga and runs her own retreats now back in Madeira since the pandemic started.

Silver Lining Between Art and Salsa with Larry Shao

Jenn speaks to Larry Shao a Taiwanese American who founded Taipei Mambo Project Dance Company and La Salsa Dance School in Taipei in 2007. A US-trained visual artist, Larry moved back to Taiwan to pursue his visual art career but found himself growing his interest in salsa then having to make a decision on which to go full-time with. Larry shares how he transitioned from being a visual artist to becoming a full-time salsa instructor and studio owner in Taiwan and the lessons he learned along the way. Including choosing to move back to Taiwan for his parents, and how as a creative you will also be able to apply your talents to the industry you are in! (Recorded on November 8, 2021)

Larry Shao is a Taiwan-based salsa instructor; he is best known for his methodical teaching style and musical choreographies. Larry teaches weekly classes, promotes events, and hosts international artists' workshops on a regular basis. Larry is the director of La Salsa Taipei Dance School and Taipei Mambo Project Dance Company; he is also the organizer of Formosa Salsa Festival.

Larry is dedicated to the fostering of the salsa and bachata dance culture in Taiwan; he founded La Salsa Taipei in 2007, one of the most prominent salsa and bachata studios in Taiwan. He has cultivated hundreds of social and performance dancers over the years.
