Interview with Raw Food Guru/Godfather Dr. Doug Graham, best-selling author and 70 y.o. powerlifter!

1h 26m · Published 28 Jan 19:27

Chef B, in California, sits down with her mentor, Dr. Doug Graham, who is in England, preparing to jet off to Costa Rica for one of his annual retreats. Chef B is thrilled to let you listen in on her conversation with someone who was a huge inspiration for her current raw eating foray (and the 2 recipe books that she just published on Amazon-- "Back to Nature" is mostly raw, and "Entertaining Au Naturel" is all raw-- search for "Cookbooks by Chef B" on Amazon to find them). Although Chef B has been eating "high raw" (aka mostly raw), whole food vegan since 1991 (and all organic since that was invented in the 90s), eating all raw has been another step up in feeling great, and she is very enthusiastic about it. Hear about the benefits to her digestion, waistline, energy and more.  Dr. Graham illuminates the science in his cool, humble manner that is so confident, laid back, and mesmerizing to thousands of followers around the globe. His book, "The 80-10-10 Diet" had a huge impact on our host as well as most raw foodists, and even just folks who want to eat healthier. It's been a best-seller pretty consistently since its inception. It's no wonder that Dr. Graham is a sought-after speaker at all the fruit festivals around the world, as well as many retreats each year in various forms of natural paradise. While he has always been known for being extraordinarily fit (he has been a trainer to world tennis pros and NFL athletes, and more), he just started powerlifting at the age of 60. Now, as he embarks on 70, he is competing in Masters Powerlifting. This guy is incredibly inspirational! Check out his website at www.foodnsport.com for more on him, his books and his retreats.

Rod Coronado: Controversial Kindness Warrior

1h 28m · Published 24 Sep 23:41

In this episode, we introduce you to the man, the myth, the legend— Rod Coronado. In his extraordinary life he’s been called many things: animal rights activist, eco-terrorist, fugitive, hero, mentor, and spokesperson for justice for all. Learn about the whaling ships he sank, the animals he rescued from laboratories and fur farms, and the crimes for which he went to prison three times. At the beginning of this episode, there is a short primer on his past, and an excerpt from an interview in 2004, where he eloquently explains his philosophy. In the second half of this episode, we catch up with him 16 years later. Now in his 50s, there are many lessons learned about the most effective ways to express and fight for ideals. Magnetic and brilliant, Rod will touch your heart with his eloquent descriptions of his ongoing work. Lest you leave this episode thinking that the controversy surrounding Rod Coronado is over, we would like to inform you that there is a film coming out in 2021 by Joe Brown called Wolf Patrol. In it you will see a hunter challenge Rod to a fight to the death, and many other similar encounters. Nobody said that a Kindness Revolution would be easy.

Vegan Military Vet and Bodybuilder on Kindness and Power

55m · Published 04 Jul 11:59

Brenda Carey interviews Korin Sutton, 3 time pro bodybuilder and 18 time physique champion, who many will remember from the pages of Vegan Health & Fitness Magazine (as well as Men’s Health and many others). Korin is also a former US Marine and former US Navy combat veteran. If anybody understands the worlds of masculine power, it is Korin. While he has excelled in these arenas, he is well aware of the systemic problems of aggression, and has seen first-hand what can happen when power and authority fall into the wrong hands in both military and police forces. As an African American male, Korin has a unique and helpful perspective as we strive to understand how to create a better, kinder society. Korin has taken what he has learned and built a business around making the world a healthier, more compassionate place in his role as a personal trainer and mentor.

55m · Published 29 Jun 21:47

Brenda Carey interviews yoga teacher and lilting voice behind the podcast Yoga is Vegan -- Holly Skodis. These two yoga chicks talk turkey about important concepts behind yoga, like kindness for all. Ahimsa is the word we use in yoga, and for some it doesn't travel further than their own mat... We invite all yogis to expand their bliss to touch the lives of all others, as is Yoga's true intention. If you're a seasoned yogi, pull up a mat and join us. If you're new to yoga, or just yog-curious, we extend a warm welcome and explain that yoga is not just about getting limber (oh, but it will get you there and it feels so good!)...
