Community First Choice allows the state to provide home and community-based attendant services and supports to Medicaid recipients with disabilities. This week features one of Community Healthcore's community partners, Longview Police Departments POST officer Byrdsong. Within this episode, Officer Byrdsong talks about his role as an outreach officer, what led him to this position, and the benefits of expanding his department. This discussion also covers the current training new recruits receive to better equip them for crisis situations or behavioral health calls as well as current leaders within the state who promote this way of policing. 

This week's episode features outreach coordinator Joy Lowe to discuss the CHC's new suicide outreach program. Topics include current statistics on veteran suicide and how this program supports not only the individual but their families as well. 

This year's final episode features one of CHC's TCOOMMI service providers, Kelsey Heichelheim to discuss what the program involves and how folks are referred. Within this discussion, Kelsey breaks down the levels of care and community partners she utilizes when working with clients, and how we as a society still have much to change regarding our prison systems.

In this week's episode, we hear from the CHC's IDD Program manager Sandra Taylor. Sandra takes us through the history of this population and the many services offered within their program and how individuals qualify. We also touch on why we as a society still have so much more to learn about IDD and how we can influence the process of change.

As well as how to approach a veteran who seems reluctant to receive services and why it is important to have culturally competent staff.
