A Discussion on Regenerative Medicine's Place in Pain Management and Injury Recovery: what, why, who, and how

38m · Published 29 Sep 06:00

In this episode,  Dr. Thomas Buchheit sheds light on who are good candidates for regenerative therapies, when and where to go for such therapies, and what the various types of regen therapies there are and how they work. Check out these slides that are referenced in the interview, "What do PRP, Stem Cells, and other Regenerative Therapies Really do?"

Who is Dr. Buchheit?

  • He is Director of The Regenerative Pain Therapies Program at Duke (DukeRPTP.org).
  • He has practiced pain management and musculoskeletal medicine for the past 20 years and has published multiple papers clarifying the underlying biochemical and inflammatory mechanisms that drive chronic pain.
  • He previously served as Division Chief for Pain Medicine in the Duke Department of Anesthesiology prior to focusing full time on the study and development of regenerative therapies for patients with osteoarthritis.
  • He co-founded The Regenerative Pain Therapies Program in 2018 with Dr. William Maixner with the goal of moving beyond symptom management to address the underlying causes of degenerative conditions.
  • The objective of the Program is to develop and deploy biologically-based interventions to improve long-term joint health by changing disease course. Dr. Buchheit is currently involved with researchers in the United States and Europe, investigating the foundational immune mechanisms of pain relief with PRP, autologous conditioned serum, and stem cells, and has lectured extensively on these topics.
  • He has mentored with Dr. Peter Wehling and is currently one of the few clinical sites in the US to offer the Autologous Conditioned Serum Program from Düsseldorf, Germany.

Should "You are What you Eat" actually be "You are what is in your Gut"? How does your gut affect pain, inflammation, immunity, and stress?

40m · Published 03 Sep 17:56

This episode explores the microbiome's rule in pain. Gut health, inflammation, pain, stress, and anxiety all go hand in hand. Managing your gut's microbe diversity significantly impacts how we feel and overuse of antibiotics and over sanitation can negatively affect that diversity. I interview Kelly Haugh, Certified Holistic Health and Wellness Coach, Stress Resilience and Mental Wellness Trainer, Nutritional Psychology Practitioner, Certified Life Coach, Speaker, Author, and Mental Health Advocate, to discuss these topics.

In the podcast, Kelly recommends trying Amare Global supplements. If you are interested in a high-quality, GMO, organic supplement line, check them out here! MyAmareGlobal.com/12386
