Raised in a Christian home but burdened by the absence of his father, Agustus sought belonging after being expelled from school. Finding solace in a gang, he paid a high price for acceptance, leading to prison time. Enduring 12 years in a harsh penal system marked by racism, violence, and addiction, Agustus found a turning point when he embraced Christianity within those prison walls.

His newfound faith brought a glimmer of hope that had been absent for years. After he was released from prison, Agustus embarked on a mission to rebuild his life and extend a helping hand to others. Through "Setting the Captive Free Ministries," founded in 2014, he reached out to prisoners, ex-offenders, the homeless, and those on the brink of a gang lifestyle.
