Dr. Brendan Egan is an Associate Professor of Sport and Exercise Physiology and the Head of the School of Health and Human Performance at Dublin City University (DCU). With a focus on skeletal muscle function and adaptation across the lifespan, his research delves into the interplay between nutrition and exercise interventions for both athletes and older adults. Dr. Egan holds a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Limerick, an MSc in Sport and Exercise Nutrition from Loughborough University, and a PhD from DCU. He completed post-doctoral training at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, where he investigated skeletal muscle development and insulin resistance mechanisms using animal models and in vitro cell systems.

As a Principal Investigator at DCU's Life Sciences Institute and a Visiting Research Scientist at the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition, Dr. Egan leads human trials focused on performance, recovery, and adaptation. His team utilizes advanced molecular analysis tools, including transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, to explore the effects of acute exercise and training on circulating factors like metabolites and extracellular vesicles. Dr. Egan's research aims to uncover how these factors contribute to the adaptive responses and health benefits of exercise, enhancing our understanding of exercise physiology and its applications in health and performance.

Dr. Kevin Smith is a renowned facial plastic surgeon and ENT specialist with dual board certifications from the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Over his distinguished career, Dr. Smith has performed thousands of facial plastic surgeries, including facelifts, eyelid surgeries, and rhinoplasties. As an Assistant Clinical Faculty Member at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston for nearly two decades, he has made significant contributions to medical education and training. Jasmin Karina Paris, born in November 1983, is a British runner celebrated for her remarkable achievements in endurance sports. Raised amidst the stunning landscapes of the Peak District and educated at Manchester High School for Girls, Paris discovered her affinity for running after university. Excelling in the challenging terrain of fell running, she swiftly ascended to the top, clinching national championships and setting records in iconic races like the Bob Graham Round and Ramsay Round. However, it was her historic triumph in March 2024 that propelled Paris into the international spotlight. With sheer determination and resilience, she became the first woman ever to conquer the Barkley Marathons, an unparalleled test of endurance known for its unforgiving terrain and stringent time limits. Completing the arduous course in 59 hours, 58 minutes, and 21 seconds, Paris's groundbreaking accomplishment stands as a testament to her indomitable spirit and unwavering dedication to her craft.

Whether you're a seasoned marathoner or just starting your running journey, this episode is packed with valuable insights, inspiration, and expert advice to help you conquer your next race. Jack Fultz, born on August 27, 1948, is a retired American long-distance runner renowned for his victory at the 1976 Boston Marathon, considered the world's oldest and most prestigious marathon race. Growing up in Franklin, Pennsylvania, Fultz attended Franklin Area High School before pursuing his academic and athletic endeavors. He initially attended the University of Arizona before enlisting in the United States Coast Guard. After completing his service, Fultz pursued graduate studies at Georgetown University, where he excelled in middle-distance events as a member of the track team.

Fultz's crowning achievement came in 1976 when he triumphed in the Boston Marathon, famously known as "The Run for the Hoses," amidst extreme heat, clocking a remarkable time of 2:20:19. Throughout his illustrious career, he qualified for three consecutive United States Olympic Trials marathons and earned accolades such as induction into the Georgetown University Hall of Fame and the DC Road Runners Hall of Fame. Post-retirement, Fultz remains deeply involved in the running community, coaching the Dana Farber Institute Boston Marathon team and actively fundraising for charitable causes.

Ed Eyestone is more than just a name in the world of distance running—he's a renowned expert and seasoned coach with an impressive track record. After hanging up his own running shoes, Eyestone transitioned seamlessly into a role as a respected distance and road racing authority. From sharing insights as a columnist for Runner's World magazine to providing expert commentary for ESPN's "Race of the Month" series, his expertise is sought after far and wide. Eyestone's coaching journey has been equally remarkable, marked by multiple accolades including three-time selection as "Coach of the Year" for the Mountain West Conference. His crowning achievement came in 2019 when he led the BYU men's cross-country team to victory at the NCAA D1 Championship race, becoming the first male coach to achieve both an individual NCAA D1 Cross Country title and a national team title.
