Kindred Conversations

by Paris Tews and Brittany Frye

We are two young moms that are committed to loving motherhood because we believe that it is something to be enjoyed, not just endured. We want to cherish the sweet moments and be present during the hard ones while we grow alongside our children. As we have entered motherhood, we have found so much comfort and value in conversations with women in all different stages of motherhood and We are here to share those conversations so we can grow together and embrace all of the joy modern motherhood brings.

003: Cultivating Rich Friendships With Kiley De Visser

46m · Published 07 Dec 08:15

We are thrilled to invite our first guest onto Kindred Conversations: Kiley De Visser. Kiley is an amazing friend and it is a skill that she continually works on. We interview Kiley about what a good friend means to her and how to become that to others.  Cultivating good friendships is valuable in motherhood. Great friends can help you better enjoy your role as a mother, and even help you to be a better mother by offering insight, lending a hand or listening ear, and relieving some of the emotional burdens we carry.

In this episode we discuss what it means to be a good friend, tips for being intentional in friendships, and ways we’ve found to make new friends. We know that in order to make good friends, we need to be a good friend and we are dedicated to putting effort into our relationships after this conversation with Kiley.

002: Creating Meaningful Holiday Memories With Intention

31m · Published 07 Dec 08:15

This is our first ever official episode in Kindred Conversations! Thank you so much for listening!  Holiday traditions can bring so much joy for the whole family but can also be the cause of stress for many mothers this time of year.  How do you find a meaningful balance between blank space and scheduled activities?

We talk all about our favorite traditions that we had growing up and those we are looking forward to implementing in our own homes, as well as some things we are leaving behind.  We discuss the things that we feel are "worth it" and the things we want to leave behind.

Giving yourself permission to leave behind traditions that are no longer serving your family is an important aspect of creating meaningful memories this time of year. We are hopeful this conversation will allow you to feel more present with your family this December as well as the many months to come.

001: Intro to Kindred Conversations

7m · Published 07 Dec 05:30

In this episode we introduce ourselves and the purpose behind Kindred Conversations. Paris is mom to Miles (20 months) and married to Pierce Tews. Brittany is married to John Frye and they have two sons, Brooks and Wells (23 months and 3 months).

We decided to start this podcast because the sense of community we have felt as mothers has made all the difference in how we enjoy motherhood. Conversations with other moms not only encourage us to be better but also help support us in the difficulties we face. We want to add to your mothering community by providing a setting for you to feel like you are sitting in on a conversation with friends and fellow mothers. Our hope is that this podcast helps you to better enjoy your role and that it provides support during the hard moments as well!
