Moe Makes Music

Moe finds $20 and is tempted to keep it, and Gilbert practically insists he does. Meanwhile, Fern seems like she’s lost something. Moe’s guest Hollie Smith teaches Moe about soul music, and reminds Moe that we all instinctively know what’s right.

Moe is trying to get Teddy to sleep, to no avail. Even the lullaby Moe plays on his ukulele doesn’t work, although the high volume he’s playing it at might have something to do with it. Violinist Jess Hindin teaches Moe to play softly and gently, and Moe enlists the help of Fern to perform a touching lullaby.

Gilbert is hassling Moe for being a monster who isn’t scary, Fern for being a fairy who isn’t dainty, and Frank for being a fantail who looks more like an owl. A visit from Randa reminds Moe that you should be proud to be exactly who you are.

Moe wants to dance but Fern and Gilbert are feeling sleepy. While they are taking a nap, Moe is visited by Sambora (from Shapeshifter and The Peacekeepers) who explains the good vibes and energy that come from making and performing dance music.

Moe encourages Gilbert and Fern to sing a duet together, but they are bickering as usual. Moe’s guests Jeff and Will (from Musical Island Boys) teach Moe how to sing in harmony, and when Gilbert and Fern hear the beautiful sound, and realise that they need each other if they want to sound like that.

Moe is practicing his ukulele hard… perhaps too hard. He’s beating himself up every time he plays a chord wrong. Moe meets french horn player Emma Eden who explains that it takes time to get good at something. Fern and Emma team up on a song that reminds Moe not to be so serious.

Gilbert is feeling insecure about his small stature, especially when he hears that Moe’s guest is Big Al Ammo - the famous country singer. Gilbert invents a machine to make himself bigger, but it backfires and makes him even smaller. Big Al sings Gilbert a song that makes Gilbert realise the advantages of being small.

Moe is still learning the ukulele, and is a little intimidated that Michal (from Petite Music Box and Music with Michal) is coming to visit and teach Moe a song. Michal reminds Moe that everyone was a beginner once, and it’s important to be encouraging and kind. After all, as Michal’s song says, kindness is free.
