Today’s Episode is the fourth in a series where I will delve into the pillars of DEFINE for our kids future. And today is I for Independence. We talk about the importance their knowledge of their physical capabilities can aid in their feeling of being an independent confident person. This knowledge and understanding of the physical changes that are occurring, especially as they get closer to puberty can have huge impacts on their confidence and self acceptance of themselves and their bodies as they mature into adults.

Today’s Episode is the third in a series where I will delve into the pillars of DEFINE for our kids future. And today is F for Friendship. We talk about the importance friendships play in their development, and how having mentors in these critical years of 5-15 years old will link far beyond the present to help them with their future.

In this episode we will look at what it means to have emotional intelligence and why it will be increasingly important for our kids’ generation.

The 2 major emotions we will focus on are empathy and self-awareness. Both are ways our kids can analyze emotions but in different contexts:

· Empathy is understanding the feelings of others

· Self-awareness is understanding their own feelings

In a world that is caught up in its own technological advances such as AI (Artificial Intelligence) we need to ensure we develop EI (Emotional Intelligence) in our kids, as that is what makes them human.

· How developing Emotional Intelligence can only be achieved if our kids are able to regulate their emotions through discipline

· Why Empathy and Self-Awareness are so important and practical tips to explore these complex subjects daily in your family

In this episode I share the one and only solution that I have used that is as simple as 123. This solution is not only simple but extremely effective. It will be one of the major tools we will give them to help them develop the skill of delayed gratification which will be ever more present and required for their future as the temptation and distractions of smart phones/games/social media become ever more prevalent in their lives.
