Episode 16: Shannan Martin

1h 14m · Published 29 Mar 08:30

Shannan Martin joins me for Episode 16 of the Surviving Sarah podcast. If you don't know her already, she writes over at Flowerpatch Farmgirl. Shannan and her husband Cory have 4 kids. God stitched her family together in different ways and from different places. And she has experienced over the last few years what its like to get the life you always dreamed of only to realize through losing it that it wasn't what she truly wanted.

It didn't take long for us to realize that we are kindred spirits--especially unified in our love for gingham shirts. We could have easily talked for hours, but instead we kept it slightly shorter. We talked about everything from books to Netflix to our dream houses to being front yard people and so very much more. Shannan has become a strong voice of influence in a community of people who desire to love their neighbor.

I'm going to take a personal style challenge and maybe you should join me. Let's choose to be creative and confident in what we wear this week. She would have never described herself as an angry person yet spouts of anger were triggered in her by her kids. We talk about her new book (co-authored with Amber Lia) that released Feb 16, 2016 called Triggers: Exchanging Parent's Angry Reactions For Biblical Responses. Episode 9: Blythe Hill

47m · Published 09 Feb 09:00

Blythe Hill, creator of the campaign Dressember, joins me on the show. We talk about how a dress can change the world. She took her love of fashion and combined it with a passion to help women who don't have a voice. In the campaign's 3rd year, she along with many other advocates raised over $915,000 USD! It's amazing what women in the hands of a very capable God can do! That money will fund over 200 rescue operations, pay over 45 anti-trafficking lawyer's salaries for a year or pay for aftercare therapy for over 1000 survivors for a year. That is truly remarkable! I can't wait to join the campaign in December 2016.
