The Adventure of the Blind Brew Guy Fred Coleman

40m · Published 29 Jan 13:00

So a while back I asked if anyone wanted to talk about the adventure in brewing and Fred was the first one to answer the call Fred lives Phoenix Arizona area, where he does most of his brewing, but does spend about five months in the summer back at his family cabin in Minnesota. Fred says "I don’t do a lot of brewing there but as of last year a friend and I started brewing up there so I think I’ll increase my brewing activity in Minnesota". Fred first home brewed with his brother in the late 1980’s. That didn’t last long and then in 2017 bought a Mr. Beer kit. After a couple batches he bought an beginners extract kit and after a year or so started brewing all-grain BIAB. This has worked well for him with his eyesight. There is much more to Freds Story so have a listen and let me know if you wold like to talk about your adventure on the show.

If you're in Ottawa go and check him out.

Brewers Friend with Lorena Evans

58m · Published 08 Jan 13:00

Hey Folks,

Happy New Year!

So I have a special guest, Lorena Evans from Brewers Friend.

She has fermented things for as long as she can remember: flowers for wine, tea for kombucha, fruits for country wine and cider, and vegetables for lacto-fermented pickles or even wine. Fermented hot peppers make a great hot sauce, and hard cider can make a delicious vinegar. From rhubarb wine to blackberry kombucha and, of course, beer, fermented products are a way of life for her. Lorena is a lifetime forager, and her motto is “If it doesn’t move, ferment it!”

Why Do you Brew

16m · Published 15 Nov 20:10

Why do you brew?

Good question and your answer can range from the love of beer, wanting to meet new people and much more.

For me it's been to help my mental health and to be apart of the of a community of brewers to learn how to be better at brewing.
