In this episode, we’re honored to be talking to the amazing session guitarist and educator, Tim Pierce. If you've listened to any pop, rock and country music in the 80's, 90's and 2000's, you've undoubtedly heard the masterful guitar playing of Tim Pierce. Tim has played on hundreds of recordings with artists such as Phil Collins, Crowded House, the Goo Goo Dolls, Toy Matinee, Lana Del Rey, Rascal Flats and many, many more. Tim has a unique set-up in his home studio where he surrounds himself with an impressive collection of processing gear, amps and cabinets. Tim also has a very popular YouTube channel, with over 340,000 subscribers, where he shares every aspect of his professional life including lots of guitar tips and instruction, tons of great gear info, and a variety of distinguished guests. Episode 25 - Juanita Copeland

In this episode, we’re talking to recording industry veteran, Juanita Copeland. Juanita has lived in Nashville since 1990 and has worked for Mercury Records, Almo Sounds Records, Pioneer Music Group, GMF Music and Hippo Productions. She is the long-time President, COO and General Manager of the iconic recording studio Sound Emporium, one of Nashville’s busiest and longest-operating commercial studios with clients that include Willie Nelson, Kacey Musgraves, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Kenny Chesney and Maren Morris – just to name a few! Her management style and leadership are the main reasons the multi-room studio continues to thrive to this day and she treats clients like “family” and creates a positive “vibe” for them to create and record. Juanita has a life-long passion for animals and has a farm North of Nashville that she shares with her rescued pot-belly pigs, rabbits and dogs. She also volunteers for Alive Hospice, Animal Rescue Corps, and supports Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and the Ocean Conservancy. Episode 24 - Kayleigh Moyer

In this episode of the Creative Spaces podcast, we’re talking to Percussionist, Drummer and Clinician, Kayleigh Moyer.

Based in Nashville, Kayleigh graduated from Belmont University with a Bachelors in Commercial Music Percussion with an emphasis in Performance. While there, Kayleigh was awarded the Freshman of the Year, Sophomore of the Year, and Junior of the Year Award, as well as the Percussive Arts Society scholarship dedicated to iconic Nashville drummer Larrie Londin.

Kayleigh has been building a successful career performing and recording with artists including Keith Urban, Ashley Clark, Reignite, Barrage 8, Post Modern Jukebox and breakout Pop Artist Whitney Woerz. She traveled to China with the Hollywood Film Music Orchestra for the Nanjing Forest Festival and performed 2 hours of film music with a 45-piece orchestra under the direction of Erik Ochsner, and moved between drum kit and the classical percussion section from piece to piece.

Kayleigh proudly endorses Pearl Drums, Sabian Cymbals, PreSonus, Genelec and Auralex. She records and engineers sessions and product demos, as well as online teaching, at her Nashville-based studio.

Episode 23 - Russ Long

In this episode of the Creative Spaces podcast, we’re talking to recording industry veteran and all-around awesome audio person, Russ Long.

Originally from Colorado, Russ moved to Nashville in the mid-eighties to attend Belmont University and went on to engineer the hits “Kiss Me” and “There She Goes” by Sixpence None The Richer. He has recorded and/or mixed albums by Wilco, Dolly Parton and Amy Grant. Russ’ film credits include the soundtracks to The Sapphires, Girl Interrupted, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything. Russ works in his private mix room, Dangerland, just outside of Nashville.

Russ is also an engineer for live sound recordings having multi-tracked live performances for Switchfoot, Luke Bryan and Guy Clark and has mixed numerous live events including the KLOVE Music awards, Challenge America Musical Gala at the Kennedy Center, Barbara Bush’s 90th Birthday concert featuring Reba McEntire and the Grammy and CMA Awards.

Russ has authored over 150 articles and reviews for Pro Audio Review, Pro Sound News, and Mix Magazine. In 2018, Russ joined Yamaha’s R&D team where his primary focus is large format live-console development.

In this episode of the Creative Spaces podcast, we talk to Academy Award-winning and Grammy-nominated engineer, producer and music technologist, Daniel Rowland.

Daniel has worked on dozens of film and tv soundtracks for Marvel, Disney, Pixar, Netflix and ABC, as well as projects for artists such as Seal, Nine Inch

Nails, David Guetta, YBN, Gwen Stefani, Bhad Bhabie, David Foster, Burna Boy and Adrian Belew. He has been a part of numerous international tours as systems designer and programmer. Daniel is Head of Strategy and Partnerships at Montreal-based LANDR Audio (AI music tools), a longtime professor of Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University, and co-founder of NOIISE, an Amsterdam-based mobile app company. Daniel joins us from his personal studio located in Los Angeles, CA.

Episode 21 - Greg Wells

In this episode of the Creative Spaces podcast, we talk to Grammy-winning producer, mixer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Greg Wells.

Originally from Ontario, Canada, Greg’s musical journey started at an early age. After moving to Los Angeles in 1990, he studied with famed jazz composer, pianist, and string arranger, Clare Fischer. Greg’s wide range of skills has crafted hits for Adele, John Legend, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Twenty One Pilots, Pink, Keith Urban, Deftones, Katy Perry, Carrie Underwood, OneRepublic, and The Greatest Showman soundtrack. Most recently, Greg mixed and co-produced the songs in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s movie musical “In The Height’s.”

As a multi-instrumentalist, he can artfully mold his productions with incredible precision, craftsmanship, and taste, and he’s mastered the balance between hands-on guidance and drawing out an artist’s sound regardless of genre. Greg has developed several acclaimed pieces of music software, including a signature series of 4 plugins with Waves.

In this episode of the Creative Spaces podcast, we have an inspired conversation with music and entertainment industry veteran Barry Cardinael. With over forty-five years of industry experience, Barry has worn many hats and traveled the world. He was instrument tech and stage manager on world tours with Joe Walsh and Barnstorm, Jethro Tull, Cat Stevens, Earth, Wind and Fire, Barry Manilow, The Beach Boys, and Neil Diamond in all studio and live-production capacities for 16 years. In 1995, Barry wrote a business plan for Iron Mountain Records Management Company to establish, promote, and grow the archival business to serve the entire Entertainment Industry to preserve and protect all forms of recorded media in dedicated archive facilities. He has worked for Iron Mountain in Hollywood, New York, London, Amsterdam, and Nashville managing millions of recorded media assets. After retiring from Iron Mountain, Barry set up a voice-over and writing studio in his home to assist with his next two career adventures. Barry joins us from his home studio in Nashville.
