73: East Forest // Living Your Truth

47m · Published 11 Apr 14:00

Welcome to Season 3 of the Coach Music Podcast. 2020 was a transformational year for so many people around the world facing so much change and new challenges it was a time for us to look inward. Music is such a beautiful way to seek refuge and listening to East Forest was a big part of that for Angus and I - and we thought it was fitting to begin 2021 with this conversation.

East Forest’s music is a bridge between the digital and natural realms. He offers a spiritual yet non-religious pathway through music, his podcast, writing, talks, and retreats.

We spoke about how he found his true calling through music. Why he remains independant and turned down a record deal. Plus his spectacular collaboration with spiritual teacher, Ram Dass.

As a musician I truly believe this episode can provide you inspiration to follow your truth and create from your heart.

72: Michael Parisi // What It Takes To Make It In The Music Industry

50m · Published 14 Dec 04:15

Michael Parisi has spent 30 years working in the music industry. He started at Warner Music as a Promotions Manager before moving into marketing and A&R (Artists and repertoire) roles.

His time in the industry has seen him put in charge of artist rosters including the likes of Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Nine Inch Nails, Green Day in his marketing role at Warner and AC/DC, Garbage and Kylie Minogue in his role at Mushroom Records.

His first band he signed, a then-unknown UK three-piece at the time, becoming a band you may know as MUSE, Michael’s instinct for what works in the industry is second to none, having more #1 albums than any managing director or A&R around this time.

His career has also seen him contribute to the success of artists such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, K.D Lang and REM.

Michael is one of the most well-known music managers in Australia. He is the mastermind behind some of Australia’s most successful musicians and currently looks after Vera Blue, Dan Sultan, Owl Eyes, Polish Club, and Disco Faith. There is so much to learn from Michael. I know this episode will bring you so much knowledge.
