125. John David Latta - "Learning To Trust"
53m · PublishedEpisode Notes: Terrified and stalked by an oppressive fear of death, John David Latta was a single dad with two children facing rock bottom, loneliness and bankruptcy. Today he would describe himself as a mystic, author, teacher, and former founder and CEO of a multimillion-dollar consumer products company. The bottom was only the beginning. John David joins us to talk about that transformation and what learning to trust in a deeper way has brought to his life. We cover a wide range of topics from spirituality and searching to getting comfortable with your intuition and paying attention to your dreams. He shares his wisdom around how traditional masculinity might not have the answers we hope it does and challenges us to think about how we might become someone more open to the truth around us.

41m · PublishedEpisode Notes: JP returns to discuss what it is like on the ground during the season, when maybe things aren't going the way you had planned. We talk about a lot of things from the heartbreak of injury and the chaos of a seemingly continuous competition schedule to the need for practice to be more than something you do after school. Ultimately we get better because we are surrounded by people that grow us. In-season that network can get small and sheltered, John challenges us to think about how we are leading in and beyond that network by connecting with others and pulling in their voices as well.

58m · PublishedEpisode Notes: David Levin, founder of the Raise Your Inner Game Sports Academy and author of the book - Raise Your Inner Game, joins the podcast to challenge us to do just that through a mechanics based approach that is easier to teach, coach and practice. David looks at how you can depersonalize errors by asking who is in charge right now: Am I or is this thought? It is critical to become aware when we let the thoughts decide and to be aware that thinking and hearing thoughts are different things. Learn to get cognitive control, emotional self-regulation and impulse control -- master the three domains of performance: thinking, feeling, doing.
