You can start a podcast on any budget but some want all the latest and greatest gear. How much did you spend on your first podcast setup and did that investment grow over time or did you jump in headfirst and spend like you weren't planning on needing any more gear?

Pandora is one of the last, big audio platforms to introduce podcasts but do they offer anything new besides another place to list your podcast? Which by the way, would probably be good enough considering the potential exposure to a whole new audience. But still, what's different? And what have they already done wrong?

Where do you get your podcast stats? Do you even look? How often? How much do they matter? And is your show ranked in Apple Podcasts? What does that even mean?

Apple is kicking out a lot of podcasters from the Apple Podcasts directory. Why? We let you know how to avoid having your podcast removed.

There are a lot of podcasts in the Apple Podcasts directory and by default, many other directories. But out of more than 500K podcasts, less than 25% of those will publish a new episode this year. So what's wrong? Is podcasting too difficult to maintain? Is it too easy to start?

Depending on where you read the stats, the number of podcasts ranges from ~250K all the way to 2 million! Um, that last one is not correct;)

Main Takeaway: The featureset sounds amazing: doing mixing, call-ins, even streaming straight to YouTube Live from their site. All things I wish I could offset, as I have to use two computers for one of my shows to achieve this. The catch: FREE, I see NOWHERE where it is mentioned how to pay. As a creator, I have had my share of my own content go away from free hosts. Some of my early stuff was on Blip.tv’s free plans. I don’t want to see content people create gone and missing forever.

I’ve had my perspective shifted because I heard someone describe why they believe something.
