Giving Back During the Holiday Season

WalletWorks Podcast – Episode 5: Giving Back During the Holiday Season

Whether you’re looking to start a new tradition or discover new ways to lend a hand, giving back during the holidays can be a rewarding way to spend time with your family and support your community. In this episode, we’re joined by Karen Rousche from the PSECU Public Relations team to discuss creative ways you can give back this holiday season.

We share ways to determine what charities are best for you to support and resources that can help you avoid charity scams. If you’re looking to research a specific charity, websites like Charity Navigator can be helpful in evaluating nonprofit organizations.

We also chat about how to give back if money is tight and also talk about how to get kids involved at an early age. One tip is to help kids contribute using their funds from our Save, Spend, Share activity. Karen provides insights around what types of donations organizations are looking for and how you can plan to contribute throughout the new year. Get a head start on next year’s charitable contributions by opening a separate savings share and setting up an automatic deposit. When next year’s giving season rolls around, you’ll already have money set aside to donate to your preferred organizations. As a PSECU member, you can customize your accounts to keep your contributions separate from other savings goals, like your emergency or vacation funds.
