Let’s Talk About Residence Life

51m · Published 24 Jun 11:00

Campus Series:

There is a lot to say about McGill residences and living in Montreal and this is just a taste. Hear Anthony talk about his time as a Residence Life Facilitator from August 2020 to April 2021. Although there were covid restrictions, Anthony and the rest of the team worked hard to help new students meet new people and form connections.

In our Residences, there are other people there to support new students – Floor Fellows and the Residence Life Managers – and we talk a little about them here as well.

If you are interested in hearing a brief conversation comparing Montreal and Toronto, you will not want to miss this! (40:22)

We wanted to give Anthony some time to talk about his experience in the Desautels Faculty of Management, and he chats about how flexible the degree is and getting internships during the summer. (43:45)

Supporting our Students (OSD and PSC)

1h 13m · Published 08 Apr 11:00

Campus Series:

This episode includes two separate discussions.

In the first one, Mr. Gift Tshuma, from the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD), explains the process of finding support through the OSD and what kind of assistance is provided. Importantly, he mentions that you can reach out to the OSD while you are still going through the application process.

To learn more about the OSD, see here: https://www.mcgill.ca/osd/

In the second discussion (31:15), I chat with Chloe and Ray, two members on the Executive Team of the Peer Support Centre (PSC). They share their own experience being volunteers and representing the Executive Team and they encourage all students to reach out whenever they need to talk. No matter is too small and having access to someone who will listen can be a great help.

For more information about the PSC, please visit their website: https://psc.ssmu.ca/
