In this episode I talk with my student, Dylan, about the review tools Quizlet & Quizziz. We discuss how the games encourage engagement and affect the learning of content.

In this week's episode I interview Aundrea who is a 6th-grade advanced student. We talk all about extra credit in my science class which takes the form of Side Quests. These are activities that link with science content but don't necessarily connect directly to unit tests. They take two main forms: unit specific activities and monthly STEM challenges.  You can learn more about these, and other side quests, in my +1 Learning Blog Post.

This week's episode is all about collaboration. I interview two students, both of which use interactive digital notebooks created using Google Slides. The difference between the students is that Juan shares his notebook with a partner and Jeniven works on hers independently.  In each interview, we talk about the ups and downs of working in isolation and with others.

Welcome to the very first +1 Learning episode! In this episode my student and I reflect on Nearpod from a student's perspective including the wins and challenges. We both gain interesting perspectives on our roles in the classroom, and his feedback on Nearpod lessons can teach us a lot about what students want and need.

Also featured: how a classroom is like a heart monitor in a hospital. Middle school kids are weird but also oddly profound.
