S1 E3: First and Last

56m · Published 16 Jul 00:00
It’s The Apple Seed! Some time just about every day filled with stories for you and your family. Since 2013 we’ve been bringing you tall tales, personal tales, fairy tales, historical tales and more. All kinds of tales, from all kinds of tellers. And today on the show you’ll hear stories of firsts and lasts, you know, the first time you did something or the last time you experienced something. When you think of some of your firsts and lasts, what comes to mind? Maybe riding your first bicycle, experiencing your first kiss, or maybe attending your last day of school? Reflecting on these experiences - and more – is the whole point of The Apple Seed. We always say that we hope the stories we share on the show spark memories for you that you can share with the people that you love. And if you’ve never really shared your stories with others, well, there’s a first time for everything. On today’s episode, enjoy the following: “A Frightful Night” by Glenda Bonin from The Dead Don't Die in Tuttle…and Other Ghostly Tales (3:12) The Daily Mix: "The Dish" with Rod Gustafson (16:25) “Watch the Baby” by Donald Davis from Too Much Hair (26:34) “My Last Meal” by David Holt and Josh Goforth from Cutting Loose (43:55) ‘Man on the Street’ piece about last meals (48:37) “Belle of the Ball” by Waddie Mitchell from Sweat Equity (52:44)

Welcome to The Apple Seed! Some time filled with stories for you and your family. Since 2013 we’ve been bringing you tall tales, personal tales, fairy tales, historical tales and more. All kinds of tales, from all kinds of tellers. Life is full of opportunities to make choices. Whether we’re deciding what to wear to school, what to eat for lunch, or which book we should read, we’re constantly confronted with choices. It’s up to us what we choose to do. It’s always nice when we make a choice and things turn out just the way we want or expect, but sometimes we get a little visit from unintended consequences. In today’s stories, we’ll get to see how some individuals deal with the unintended consequences of the choices they make.
