Learning to Remain Present in Motherhood with Lindsay

13m · Published 15 Apr 08:00

In this mini-episode, Lindsay describes her chaotic circumstances, and also her Martha-like tendencies, as she gives a snapshot of her season of motherhood and what God is teaching her. Lindsay zooms in on the story of Mary and Martha and reminds herself and other moms of the gentle reminder from Jesus that only “one thing is needed.” She gives practical tools of how she refocuses on what is needful in her hectic moments when she becomes frazzled like Martha, while also reminding us that this season of young children means we as moms will also have our share of meltdowns and tantrums (for both kids and moms!) and Jesus is the one we can always cry out to for love and redirection.

Trusting God "Even If..."

28m · Published 26 Feb 09:00

In this episode, Seasoned Mamas explore faith journeys amidst life’s fiery trials. Inspired by the song, “Even If,” Deb talks about facing trials and trusting God, even if He doesn’t choose to spare us from a trial or move the proverbial mountain in front of us. Drawing from the biblical historical account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace, Deb reflects on trusting the Lord’s plan, even if it doesn’t meet our expectations or provide the answers we sought.

Through personal stories and Scriptural insights, Deb, Faith, Linsday, and Michelle share how we’ve seen God’s transformative power at work; we find comfort in the One who enables us to hold onto Hope in Jesus, the One who stands with us in each fire - in every trial. Regardless of each circumstance, God remains faithful and ever-present. Our hope rests in Him.

Mama, Remember Who You Are

28m · Published 15 Jan 09:00

Do you ever feel regret about your past? Shame? Condemnation?

Sometimes the most powerful words we can hear are:

YOU ARE A GOOD MOM.

You are a good wife, daughter, sister, and child of God.

“You are holy, you are righteous, you are one of the redeemed…."

This is the first episode of our Song Series, where each seasoned mama picks a favorite song and shares how it speaks to her season of life, her faith, and what God is currently teaching her.

Lindsay’s selection is “Dear Younger Me” by Mercy Me, where she shares that Jesus is her redeemer, and how she is learning to fix her eyes on Him instead of the doubt, fear, regret, and other things that would distract her from showing up, being present, and being her best for her family, friends, and each new challenge ahead.

When she asked the other mamas what they would tell their younger selves, the conversation grew so deep and wide

Faith shares about how important it is to know that we are made uniquely in Christ and that we don’t have to compare who we are to the measuring stick of others.

Deb talks about the power of Christ’s forgiveness to break the chains of condemnation, guilt, and shame.

Michelle shares the thread of hope that ties us to our Savior. As we place our hope, our hearts, and our lives in Him, we can trust in His unfailing love for us in the everyday struggles and uncertainties of life in a fallen world.

This isn’t a light conversation, but a real and honest look at how we can walk in freedom from our past, but also gratitude for all the ways God has used it to shape us into the imperfect, redeemed, messy, beautiful, and broken pots that shine His unfailing light and glory.

Preparing for Christmas: Stressing or Blessing?

27m · Published 04 Dec 09:00

Welcome to this special Seasoned Mamas Podcast episode, where we navigate the busy season of Advent. In the midst of our many preparations and traditions, it’s easy to feel more stressed than blessed. As Christians and as moms, we strive to focus on the true meaning of Christmas – for ourselves and for our families – but in our pursuit of the “perfect” celebration, do we unintentionally create a busied Season of stress…and even guilt?

In today’s episode, “Preparing for Christmas: Stressing or Blessing?” we’ll also share stories and traditions from our homes. Deb talks about a cookie-cutter Christmas tradition as a meaningful way to share the story of our Savior’s birth, along with a grace-filled reminder that the “shape” of Christmas isn’t defined by traditions or completed to-do lists, but by the One Who came, Who comes to us today, and Who will come again.

Lindsay shares the beauty of the simple, special ways we can curl up with our families, sharing the heart of the message of Christmas through tradition-forming activities like story time, reading favorite storybooks that retell the account of Christ’s birth.

Faith talks about new traditions formed through playtime with her toddlers, using this together-time to “walk” nativity characters around the house and talk organically about the Christmas narrative, sharing fun, making memories, and enjoying stress-free activity!

Michelle reminds us that some meaningful traditions begun when children are young may continue for years…like a special felt advent nativity calendar and more. This mama has found a way to honor her family’s shared memories and continue these traditions with her now-young-adult children.

Mamas, we encourage you to begin or continue special advent traditions that bless you and your families, whether you have littles, teens, young adults, even grandchildren! No matter what, the Savior comes! He comes to you in the stress AND the messes. And yes, He blesses…beyond measure. A blessed Advent Season of Preparation to you and yours.

God Hears Your Messy Mama Prayers

27m · Published 20 Nov 09:00

Hey there, Mamas. Have you ever felt unseen? Unnoticed? Wondered if anyone is truly listening? If you've pondered these questions, you are not alone. Welcome to another heart-to-heart episode of Messy Mama Prayers, where we dive into life's ups and downs with faith, laughter, and a little mess.

In this episode, we will talk to you about how we can use the names of God and His characteristics to find solace during our prayer times. These names serve as a powerful reminder that even when we feel invisible, there's a God who sees us, hears us, and cares about every moment of our lives.

Let's start with a name you may not have heard often but holds profound meaning—El Roi, which means "You are the God who sees me." This name is found in the story of Hagar, a fellow mama from the pages of the Bible, and her life was, well, let's say, quite messy.

But here's where the beauty unfolds: Jesus comes to her. And when we talk about the "Angel of the Lord," it's more than an angel; it's believed to be Jesus pre-incarnate. Imagine, Jesus meets a lowly slave girl out in the desert. She's in despair, and He listens as she pours her heart out to Him.

Just like Hagar, Jesus sees you, dear Mama. He hears you. He cares about every single detail of your life. Your worries, your joys, your messy moments—he's right there with

Deb, Lindsay, and Faith. They'll share some of the characteristics and names of God they like to focus on during their prayers. You'll be surprised how much comfort and strength you can find in these simple yet profound reminders of God's presence.

We’ll also share how you can use Psalm 139 in your prayer time. This psalm beautifully illustrates how God knows you inside and out, even before you speak your thoughts. He was there when you were being formed in your mother's womb. He knows you, Mama. He loves you, and He calls you by name.

So whether you find solace in Psalm 139 or explore other Psalms that speak to your heart, remember this: God is with you, especially during those moments when you wonder if you're being seen or heard. You are cherished, Mamas, and you are not alone in this beautiful, messy, and extraordinary journey of motherhood.

If you would like to learn more about some of the different names of God, you can learn more about Michelle's book, Promised Rest, here.
