Art & AI

by Hans Loekkegaard

An interview podcast, dedicated to speaking with established artists on how they see their craft today, tomorrow and in years to come. Can a robot create art? Will the canvas be replaced by a touch screen? Will the classical art disciplines go extinct? Do machines have human creativity? I want to deep dive into their minds, see the world through their lens and understand how the art realm is being influenced by technology today and what art's role will be in a digital future. Join me on the journey and stay tuned!

Emily Fleuriot - Drawing & Writing

45m · Published 12 Apr 13:00
Emily Fleuriot is a London-based artist and writer, who is currently evolving her creative practice - feeling her way to a body of work, mainly through drawing, printmaking and writing. Against the backdrop of everyday life, Emily has been steadily flexing and tuning her creative muscle memory, returning to her long held passions for art and storytelling. Emily is returning to art and writing following a decade-long hiatus which she broke four years ago, beginning with evening classes at Royal Drawing School. Her commitment to taking a studio at Wimbledon Art Studios is an important step towards her intention to not just to give more time to art and to understand herself better through her creative practice, but also to examine the arts in the everyday. Her belief is that we can all be creative and use that creativity as a tool to understand ourselves, express our feelings and beliefs, and alleviate anxieties. Check out Wimbledon Art Studios here (https://www.wimbledonartstudios.co.uk/upcoming-events/2019/5/9/wimbledon-art-fair) and remember to attend their next art fair in the fall! Jane Bain - Painter & Printmaker

37m · Published 28 Mar 21:00
"One of the most challenging things about my art is choosing the fruit! Grocery shopping has never been quite the same since I began to search out the most engaging 'models' for my paintings and prints." Jane is a London-based painter and printmaker with a fascination for light, nature and scale. Born in Chelsea, she studied art and design at Wimbledon School of Art and the London College of Printing and lived in Singapore and Hong Kong for a while, where she also studied Chinese calligraphy. Jane regards all her subjects as portraits, whether flora or fauna, exploring the character behind each model, be it the figure-like shape of pears that exude human qualities, the secret of an unopened lily, or the playful cheekiness of a bird. For her most recent work, Jane has been experimenting with variable printing techniques. Using stencils, she paints directly onto silk screens, applying the paint in many layers to create depth and texture. The application of colour can be controlled to a certain extent, but the process is all the more intriguing because there is an element of randomness when the paint is drawn through the screen. Why not have a look at her artwork over here (https://www.wimbledonartstudios.co.uk/jane-bain) while listening? It enriches the experience and provides context. Georgia Kitty Harris - Illustrator & Printmaker

28m · Published 21 Mar 19:00
Georgia Kitty Harris is a London-based printmaker and illustrator, who studied Fine Art at Kingston and did an MA in printmaking at the Royal College of Art. Georgia's work currently uses animals as avatars to explore an interest in taxonomy. The ways in which people classify and group themselves is in a constant state of flux, and there's something she finds reassuring in the collective nouns and orders of animals. It's like an anthropomorphic representation of belonging. While listening to the interview, please check out Kitty's artwork here (https://www.wimbledonartstudios.co.uk/georgia-kitty-harris)as it puts it in better context.
