Fabian is the founder of Cobiom, a collection of 'doers' harnessing collective intelligence to 10x impact for startups, drawing from bio-inspired innovation, circular economy, GreenTech, blue and regenerative business, systems design, and impact finance.

He was also the Director of Biomimicry Academy for a number of years, an educational platform with the goal of turning innovative minds into natural change makers.

-

  • Creating business models that create more economic benefit for all parties involved. Mutually beneficial systems that benefit the business, all the people in it, and the surrounding environment.
  • In nature there is no waste, by definition. So part of harmonizing with nature is creating systems that do the same.
  • Culture is a reflection of collective intelligence, our mind patterns. Change people's minds, change the world.
  • It's now possible to use decentralized technology (sensors) to sense what nature needs, and to give nature a vote in a democratic process when making impactful decisions.

-

Thank you Fabian for your depth of understanding of how to make real change.

Lotus Temple

Reality Creation.

Mar is the principle and founder of Guildworks, Architecture of the Air. An award-winning design-build firm specializing in innovative, permanent tension fabric structures.

Mar can design a beautiful Lotus Temple for the community.

We're planting this flower in Humboldt County.

You'll love it.

-

  • The tensile fabrics Mar designs with the same insulation as the most durable glass. Can last somewhere between 50-100 years.

Water catchment with solar embedded into the fabrics.

  • The future of the office looks natural. People are more effective in their daily work life if they are in touch with nature. This could potentially uplevel GDP for the entire country.

Science.

  • Most buildings use technology that is 100 years old. Incredibly inefficient, while also a massive contributor to greenhouse emissions.

Nature doesn't like square boxes.

-

Thank you Mar for helping us all harmonize with the natural world.

That's the game we're playing.

Missouri Botanical Garden

Daria is the manager for the Center for Home Gardening at the Missouri Botanical Garden, one of the top ten Botanical Gardens in the country.

It's beautiful.

We get to walk through many of the features, displays, and systems of the garden and get the inside scoop.

-

  • Botanical Gardens play a huge role in research, discovery, and conversation for the plant species of our shared Earth. As well as a major educational resource for learning about the natural world.
  • LCMS: Living Collections Management System - a database that tracks the life of every plant in the garden. A GIS system that maps the growing conditions, plant date, and all notes about each plant. This information can then be cross-pollinated with other Botanical Gardens all over the world.
  • That's a great reason to work here. You step outside and it's like therapy. It's calming, you get to see beautiful sights every day...it's very relaxing."
  • All the botanical gardens are starting to ask the question: "Not what can I plant now, but what can I plant later on?"

Something to think about.

-

Dariah, thank you for taking us for a walk through the garden!

Biomimicry Frontiers

Frontier

Uncharted territory.

Jamie is the founder and director of Biomimicry Frontiers, an award-winning design who's mission is to 'Make It Better.'

Naturally.

He trained with Janine Benyus who coined the term Biomimicry back-when.

He's also working at B+H Architecture firm as Director of Biomimicry to help them to think and create within a Biomimetic Paradigm.

.

  • Using Biomimicry to design your built environment can make them more attractive to clients/investors AND there's major cost savings in infrastructure in the long-term and engineering costs.
  • Through measuring the ecological performance of a site, before and after, you can tell that some buildings (designed by yours truly) actually improve the site more than if they weren't to build on it.
  • Metrics: Sequestering more carbon, producing more oxygen, reducing noise, reducing air pollution, water retention, temperature reduction and a few more.
  • It's a Win-Win Paradigm.

.

Thank you Jamie for harmonizing us with the natural world @biomimicryfrontiers
