Lotus Temple

46m · Published 09 Sep 15:00

Reality Creation.

Mar is the principle and founder of Guildworks, Architecture of the Air. An award-winning design-build firm specializing in innovative, permanent tension fabric structures.

Mar can design a beautiful Lotus Temple for the community.

We're planting this flower in Humboldt County.

You'll love it.

-

  • The tensile fabrics Mar designs with the same insulation as the most durable glass. Can last somewhere between 50-100 years.

Water catchment with solar embedded into the fabrics.

  • The future of the office looks natural. People are more effective in their daily work life if they are in touch with nature. This could potentially uplevel GDP for the entire country.

Science.

  • Most buildings use technology that is 100 years old. Incredibly inefficient, while also a massive contributor to greenhouse emissions.

Nature doesn't like square boxes.

-

Thank you Mar for helping us all harmonize with the natural world.

That's the game we're playing.

Missouri Botanical Garden

38m · Published 27 Aug 15:00

Daria is the manager for the Center for Home Gardening at the Missouri Botanical Garden, one of the top ten Botanical Gardens in the country.

It's beautiful.

We get to walk through many of the features, displays, and systems of the garden and get the inside scoop.

-

  • Botanical Gardens play a huge role in research, discovery, and conversation for the plant species of our shared Earth. As well as a major educational resource for learning about the natural world.
  • LCMS: Living Collections Management System - a database that tracks the life of every plant in the garden. A GIS system that maps the growing conditions, plant date, and all notes about each plant. This information can then be cross-pollinated with other Botanical Gardens all over the world.
  • That's a great reason to work here. You step outside and it's like therapy. It's calming, you get to see beautiful sights every day...it's very relaxing."
  • All the botanical gardens are starting to ask the question: "Not what can I plant now, but what can I plant later on?"

Something to think about.

-

Dariah, thank you for taking us for a walk through the garden!

Biomimicry & Business

36m · Published 11 Aug 15:00

Fabian is the founder of Cobiom, a collection of 'doers' harnessing collective intelligence to 10x impact for startups, drawing from bio-inspired innovation, circular economy, GreenTech, blue and regenerative business, systems design, and impact finance.

He was also the Director of Biomimicry Academy for a number of years, an educational platform with the goal of turning innovative minds into natural change makers.

-

  • Creating business models that create more economic benefit for all parties involved. Mutually beneficial systems that benefit the business, all the people in it, and the surrounding environment.
  • In nature there is no waste, by definition. So part of harmonizing with nature is creating systems that do the same.
  • Culture is a reflection of collective intelligence, our mind patterns. Change people's minds, change the world.
  • It's now possible to use decentralized technology (sensors) to sense what nature needs, and to give nature a vote in a democratic process when making impactful decisions.

-

Thank you Fabian for your depth of understanding of how to make real change.

Lex is the Communications Director for the Biomimicry Institute an educational center whose mission is Empowering People to Create Nature-Inspired Solutions for a Healthy Planet.

-

  • When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. That includes your relationship with the natural world.
  • This moment is all we have. DEEP.
  • The Ray of Hope Prize awards funding to top nature-inspired solutions addressing humanities grandest challenges, helping them to scale at speed.
  • Biomimicry reminds us that we're enough.

Biomimicry Frontiers

50m · Published 13 Jul 15:00

Frontier

Uncharted territory.

Jamie is the founder and director of Biomimicry Frontiers, an award-winning design who's mission is to 'Make It Better.'

Naturally.

He trained with Janine Benyus who coined the term Biomimicry back-when.

He's also working at B+H Architecture firm as Director of Biomimicry to help them to think and create within a Biomimetic Paradigm.

.

  • Using Biomimicry to design your built environment can make them more attractive to clients/investors AND there's major cost savings in infrastructure in the long-term and engineering costs.
  • Through measuring the ecological performance of a site, before and after, you can tell that some buildings (designed by yours truly) actually improve the site more than if they weren't to build on it.
  • Metrics: Sequestering more carbon, producing more oxygen, reducing noise, reducing air pollution, water retention, temperature reduction and a few more.
  • It's a Win-Win Paradigm.

.

Thank you Jamie for harmonizing us with the natural world @biomimicryfrontiers

Biomimicry

To Mimic Life.

Lily holds a Master's in Biomimicry from Arizona State University, one of the leading and few colleges in the country teaching Biomimicry at that level.

Currently she's teaching at Pratt Institute a course called Biology for Biomimicry. A course for design students, helping them to translate nature into applicable designs.

She also has a podcast called Learning from Nature where she uncovers how biomimicry is being successfully applied across disciplines and industries.

Definitely check it out.

~

  • Nature, and studying nature allows us to access solutions we haven't thought of yet. An intelligence with 3.8 billion years of research and development. That's the tagline.
  • At the core of Biomimicry is creating things that are life affirming.
  • For those interested in Biomimicry Asknature.org is an amazing resource where you can ask specific questions surrounding natural processes, systems and their applications.

~

Thank you Lily for your knowledge and love for the natural world. It's inspiring.

Permaculture Design

54m · Published 30 May 14:00

Permaculture

It really means 'permanent culture.' The permanent cultivation of our human territory.

Because, ultimately, we achieve permanent health as humans and landscapes through designing our ecosystems to meet our needs and wants.

Learn something new everyday.

Hannah's  the Co-founder of the Abundant Earth Foundation (one of our fiscal sponsors) and she helped start up the North American version of Permaculture magazine.

She was in Gautamala when we had this conversation.

.

  • Creating economic opportunities for these communities through funding these projects.
  • Brief overview of permaculture (garden and organization) design from beginning to end.
  • Fundraising strategies and philosophies for land-based and regenerative projects.

.

She's starting a new campaign called 'Shake it or Take it!'

Thank you Hannah @abundant.earth.foundation

Regenerative Villages

56m · Published 16 May 14:00

They Say A Quality of The Best Leaders

Is the ability to take the complexity of something and communicate it in a way that is simple, organized, and actionable.

Simple does it.

Anton is the founder of House of Transformation and Rebuild - a networking, event, education, and community building platform that focuses on eco-villages and all of the variables that go into creating them successfully.

Key Points:

  • Symbiotic relationship building that feed into and activate your eco-village and land-based project.
  • Ground up, lean and agile, strategies for bringing your eco-village or land-based project to life.
  • Bringing art & culture into the landscape to make it more desirable and unique for visitors.
  • Seeing hierarchy within an organization as both a circle and a triangle that fit inside of a square.

Regenerative Development

53m · Published 30 Apr 14:00

Kelly's the founder of New Earth Now, a regenerative development company that supports the creation of eco-villages, regenerative smart cities, and retreat centers.

She's definitely tapped into a frequency that is, in and of itself, part of the solution.

-

What I Loved:

- A world without money, and a resource-based economy is possible, in the far off future.

- Scalar Frequency Machines and Light Healing Beds that can heal and prevent things like cancer.

- Aircrete: a sustainable building material that uses only %10 of the concrete of traditional buildings, and soap.

Algae, another carbon-sequestering building material capable of lining the outsides of buildings.

- Abundancia: A regenerative community model liberating human potential by creating living conditions that free people to pursue their passions and create their dreams.

-

One of Kelly's deepest dreams is to see places of disease, hunger, and poverty regenerate and flourish with their own culture, societies, and lifestyle, restored.

I already know she's going to help make it happen.

Thank you Kelly - https://www.newearthdevelopment.org/

New Moon Blessings, Always.

Sending Love,
