TCL Episode 2: How to Speak BOLDLY and with Confidence

Speak from Integrity

In other words, speak from the part of your knowledge that is WHOLE. This means to only speak that which you know. You should never be speaking on a topic that you know nothing about. The only way to TRULY know a thing is through EXPERIENCE, so you must commit to only speaking from that which you have EXPERIENCE.  When you have EXPERIENCE with something, the energy of that thing is stored in YOUR BODY, which means you will be able to access it at whatever point in time you choose. If you choose to speak on things for which you have no experience, you may be a really good presenter and so you can present it really well, but what happens when that speaking opportunity opens up MORE opportunities in that area in which you have NO EXPERIENCE. Then you’ll be able to get the opportunities but you won’t be able to KEEP them. You won’t have the confidence to KEEP them and sooner or later, it will show. Sometimes, what happens is that people rise so much to the challenge of developing fake confidence in things they have no experience in that when it is finally revealed that they have no experience, the stage is SO BIG that it becomes a huge, embarrassing SCANDAL. So speak from Integrity.

Enunciation - DO NOT HIDE YOUR ACCENT

The only reason for enunciation is so that the words you speak can be heard from afar. NOT so you can hide your accent. Unless your accent is something you would like to change, because YOU desire to play with another way of Being, then do not focus on attempting to change or hide your accent. Your willingness and ability to be UNAPOLOGETICALLY your SELF is what will unlock your confidence and it is also what will allow your confidence to be felt and to be WITNESSED by other people.

Release Your Self from the Outcome

Sometimes we can be soooo attached to the outcome... will they buy my thing, will they like me, will I get booed off of the stage, what if everyone gets up and leaves in the middle of my presentation, sometimes we can get so caught up in the outcome that we cast a HUGE shadow over the fact that we are SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS.  How do you do this?

STAY IN YOUR OWN BODY!  Yes, there are people in the audience, yes there is a crowd, yes there are lights, and cameras, and whispers, and all kinds of things, but the MOST IMPORTANT thing in that moment to YOU is YOU and your message. Now when I say that, many people will feel like “oh that is so selfish,,, you’re there for your audience, what about what THEY need blah blah...”

Here’s the thing:

You are NO GOOD to anyone else if you are no good to your SELF FIRST. Yes, your audience needs your message, but they’ll never GET your message, if you can never DELIVER your message. And the only way you can DELIVER your message is if you are PRESENT with YOU FIRST!
