Social Media and Self Esteem

48m · POST GRAD SPACE · 26 Oct 04:29

Last week, I did a thing with my guest. We discussed on social media, which has ultimately affected our self-esteem. You don't believe it? Just look at how perceptions around colourism, body types among others have been shaped. On this week's episode, we continue the conversation and see how beauty standards have affected the corporate workspace, and how influencers are shaping our present. To listen to the first part of this conversation, go to Mercy Asiro's podcast- The Merciful Hour on Anchor

Speaking up for yourself

For many of us, it is easier to advocate for others than it is to speak up for ourselves. However, when we don't speak up for ourselves, we erode our sense of self-worth.

In this week’s episode, I share how I am learning how to speak up for myself in the workplace (not an easy feat but I will get there eventually)

First time move

Moving out is an amazing feeling, until you realize that you in this process alone. To be honest, it gets anxious when you remember that you will have to buy things to fill your house, pay rent and fix the holes in your bathroom. Sucks right?

But there is a joy of being able to live under your own roof and throw the “as long as I am under my roof card.”

In this week’s episode, I share my tips on what to do when looking for a house.

You know how someone can decide to cut you off without an explanation, then show up on your door or call you after months? Some may never have the audacity to re-appear. Well... There is a word for it... Ghosting.

To find out more about this topic, I am speaking to Chris Hart, who shares his nuggets of wisdom and why ghosting is never an option when it comes to having those tough conversations.

And yes... I know it has been a while since we did these episodes. Sorry about that.
