Getting homework done can be very challenging for many students. In this episode we discuss how it is, "the start that stops us" and how to overcome that. Using either a Momentum or Knockout strategy provides your child with a game plan. With momentum, your child starts with easy work and builds up. With knockout, your child completes the most difficult work first and gets it out of the way...

Lesson #12 - Be First
This lesson is NOT about teaching your student to "be first" in line! That seems to be a natural tendency for kids and they don't need to be taught that :) This episode actually encourages children to initiate and start in a variety of areas of their lives. We talk about being first to help someone or being first to reach out to a friend or being first to apologize. When a student feels that they can start something good they feel empowered.

Lesson #10 - Apologize
Children often have the misperception that apologizing is an admission of guilt. They can incorrectly pair feeling "less than" when they apologize and acknowledge mistakes, and they may want to avoid that. In this lesson we discuss the value of apologizing and how it can actually strengthen relationships.

Lesson #9 - Appreciate The Small Stuff
While the big ticket items such as a vacation can bring us some joy and wonderful memories, sustained happiness actually comes from the small stuff in life. Experiences that are free, daily, and easy to do are what make up most of life. Children love knowing that they can find small stuff experiences that bring them joy.
