The Holiday Season and Family – S1E10

6m · We R S.H.E.Talks · 04 Nov 23:01

Take time to enjoy the holiday season. Photo 1 is by Christopher Ryan and photo 2 is by Aaron Burden on Unsplash. It is that time again--the holiday season has begun. And for many of us, it is a joyous time to behold. For the most part, people look forward to spending the holiday season with family and friends. Of course, others are happy for the long-awaited vacation time from work or school.  Reflection and thanksgiving  The holiday season is the perfect time to reflect on the many blessings you received this year.Photo by Priscilla Du Preez on Unsplash Some Christians approach the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season with reflection. Lady V and I reflect on the goodness of God in our lives. Our family has a spirit of thanksgiving because we have overcome some difficult times. Thus, we are grateful to God that He is the one that has seen us through time and time again. He has remained faithful. Praise God! So, we hope reflection is a part of your holiday season too. You see, no matter your culture or religion everyone has something to be grateful for.  Celebrate the memory of a loved one  Also, during this holiday season let's keep in mind that for some people it may bring sadness because of a loss of some kind. We know that because of the cycle of life people are born, people live and sadly people die. For those families who are grieving the loss of a loved one, the holiday season can be especially hard.  And so, for those that like our family who've had a loss this year, we hope you will consider reflecting on the good times. Celebrate the person's life--honor him/her. Think of the last laugh you shared, wisdom imparted to you, a warm hug or a sneaky smile.  The holiday season is so much better with family and friends. Photo by Eugene Zhyvchik on Unsplash In other words, celebrate the good memories instead of remaining in a mournful state. Surround yourself with family and friends who also loved that person. Know that your time with that person was a meaningful time because life is precious and no day, no time, no moment is purposeless when it comes to God. In fact, to God every moment of every hour is purposeful.  A new year and a new season  A new year is coming and hence a new season of We R S.H.E.Talks Podcast. So, Lady V and I are taking time out to prepare for Season 2 because it is our goal to spread hope everywhere. Thus, we will have more inspiring episodes in the upcoming year. Also, we appreciate everyone who takes the time to listen to us and/or read our blog and weekly devotionals. We hope that we have been a blessing to you. And we are believing God that He will give us further knowledge to inspire and pour into you in the new year.  So, we bless you, we pray for you that all things go well for you. That the year not only ends well, but the new year begins well. Moreover, we pray the blessings of God upon you and we pray blessings upon your family. So, however you celebrate the holiday season, we pray that you'll know Jesus as we do. And that God reminds you that He loves you and that your life and your family matters to Him. Likewise, be encouraged in knowing that His love knows no limits. Hence, because He loves He expects us to show love to others. John 15:17 New International Version (NIV), “This is my command: Love each other.”  #TheSpreadHopeChallenge  We challenge you this holiday season to let family and friends know that they matter to you. More specifically, don't assume that they know. Because sometimes we tend to take for granted that, the people we love just know. Sometimes a person doesn't know you care if they don't hear from you. You see, he/she can feel alone or they can assume that you don't care.  So again, The Spread Hope Challenge is to let family and friends know that they matter and that you care. You know, if you don't like to talk on the telephone, send them a quick text message, a cute little emoji or Gif.

Give Your Cares To God – BTEp13

Biblical Talks In this episode of Biblical Talks, SD and Lady V discuss 1 Peter 5:6-11 Amplified Bible Classic Edition. Of course, the Apostle Peter was writing to a group believers scatter abroad during that time. But we too can learn from his counsel and warnings. Now, our main focus for this episode is -- giving our cares to God -- found in verse seven, "Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully." With the above scripture in mind, here are a couple questions for you. Have you read 1 Peter 5:6-11 Amplified Bible Classic Edition? If so, what are your thoughts? If you haven't, no worries, we've got you covered. Either way, come go with us in your bible or bible app. Also, go ahead and use the player at the top of this blog post or subscribe and listen via your preferred podcast platform to follow along. This is your time to receive the Gift of Salvation through Christ Jesus. Now, you may be wondering, "Why do I need that?" Oh, I'm so glad you asked. The Bible says, that because Adam ate fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil -- he released sin into the world. And ultimately, Adam's sin brought death and death spread to everyone. No doubt, you may be thinking, "Of course, everyone is going to die." But, my question to you is "Where will you spend eternity?" Because there is life after death. In fact, when you die you go to one of two places -- heaven or hell. Also, it is important to understand that, Adam’s sin also brought an eternity in hell. But for those who choose not to receive the free gift of eternal life. Thus, you must make that choice before you take your last breath. Romans 5:17 New Living Translation says, “For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.” To sum it all up, Romans 6:23 New Living Translation says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” So, if you are reading this, don't let another day go by without receiving this life-changing gift. Scripture Romans 10:8-10 New Living Translation says, “8 …“The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: 9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” Salvation Prayer Lord Jesus, I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins. I ask You to forgive me. I want to follow You, Jesus. I believe in my heart that God raised you from the dead. By faith, I receive You, Jesus Christ, and your gift of grace. LIFE’S FIELD – We Harvest What We Plant – BTEp12

Biblical Talks In this episode of Biblical Talks, SD and Lady V discuss Galatians 6:7-10 New Living Translation. In this passage, the Apostle Paul denoted that we will always harvest what we plant. In other words, life will always present us with the temptation to make harmful or bad decisions. And if we choose to do so, we harvest the negative and/or the destructive harvest that follows. No doubt, most often than not, someone other than yourself gets caught the crossfire. Moreover, the same is true, when we do good, we harvest blessings in just the right time. Although Paul's letter was addressing the churches of Galatia -- it still very much applies to us, even now. Make no mistake, in life's field -- we harvest what we plant. Now, here are a couple questions for you. Have you read Galatians 6:7-10 New Living Translation? If so, what are your thoughts? If you haven't, no worries, we've got you covered. Biblical Talks In this episode of Biblical Talks, SD and Lady V discuss Psalm 57:1-11 New International Version. In this passage we find David in great distress. He is crying out to God for help because King Saul was pursuing him. Why? because Saul was jealous and threatened by David, thus, he wanted to kill him. For that reason, David cried out for help that could only come from God. You see, David understood that God's wisdom and understanding is better than that of any other. The Word Made Flesh – BTEp10

Biblical Talks In this episode of Biblical Talks, SD and Lady V discuss the passage John 1:1-18 [The Word Made Flesh]. In the New Living Translation it says, The Word Made Human. Either way, The Word Made Flesh refers to Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Hence, from this passage we learn exactly who Jesus was and still is. Also, we learn that God sent John the Baptist to testify how Jesus was the true light that shines in the darkness. Moreover, we learn how God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. Now, here are a couple questions for you. Have you read John 1:1-18 New Living Translation? Ordered Steps – BTEp9

Biblical Talks One of the many things I've learned over the years is that my plans for my life are not always what's best for me in the long run. In particular, I refer to those moments as redirections. And when I take the redirection, I end up exactly where I'm supposed to be. As a follower of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I believe God has ordered my steps and all I have to do is be obedient. Another thing I've learned is that if I'm not obedient, God has a way of getting me back on track. Glory to God! In fact, for those who don't believe in Jesus, He has a way of reaching them as well. And we see an example of this in Acts 9:3-23 New Living Translation. Here we see that Saul/Paul a Pharisee [Jewish Leader], finds that out on the road to Damascus. He was on his way to hunt down followers of Jesus Christ but his encounter with the Lord Jesus forever changed the direction of his life. God ordered his steps. Now, here are a couple questions for you. Have you read Acts 9:3-23 New Living Translation. If so, what are your thoughts? If you haven't, no worries, we've got you covered. Either way, come go with us in your bible or bible app. Also, go ahead and use the player at the top of this blog post or subscribe and listen via your preferred podcast platform to follow along.
