Corrine Yap: Combinatorics & Mathematical Theater

Corrine Yap is currently in the mathematics Ph.D. program at Rutgers University doing research in probabilistic combinatorics. She received a B.A. in mathematics and theater from Sarah Lawrence College, and as an undergraduate, she spent time studying math in Budapest and theater in Moscow. In 2016, she first performed her original one-woman play called Uniform Convergence, which explores the struggles of two women (historical mathematician Sofia Kovalevskaya and a fictional Asian-American math professor) trying to find their place in the academic world. Over the past three years, Corrine has performed at over 15 venues, including college math departments, high school programs, the national conference MAA MathFest, and Off-Broadway with the Pan-Asian Repertory Theater.

Staci Hill received her M.S. in Chemistry from Yale University and worked as a Nanotechnology Research Scientist at the National Institute for Materials Science in Japan and the Lurie Nanofabrication Facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
