E24: Handling relapse symptoms and why new mums experience high rates of TMS symptoms

1h 6m · Let's Talk MindBody Healing · 03 Jan 00:18

Join me in this episode, as I speak about all things motherhood and TMS. In this episode, I also speak about handling my relapse in chronic pain symptoms since entering into motherhood (skip straight to 10m30s if you only want to hear about that).

Steve Ozanich once said that "well over half of the people have contacted me over the past six months have been women who have just had babies". In this episode, I speak about why new mums are overrepresented in the TMS population. I cover topics including brain neuroplasticity, hormones, birth trauma, being so heavily demanded of with limited support, myths about motherhood (expectations that you should be it all and enjoy it all) and more. Unfortunatley, there were way too many reasons that I could think of as to why new mums experience such high rates of TMS in our culture that I couldn't touch on them all!

E26: Understanding Pain Reprocessing Therapy with Vanessa Blackstone

Join me in this episode, as I speak with Vanessa Blackstone. Vanessa is the Executive Director, and a practising therapist, at the Pain Psychology Center. I had the pleasure of speaking with Vanessa as part of her amazing efforts to get the word out about mindbody (or what I now like to call bodymind) healing. The Pain Psychology Center is home to Pain Reprocessing Therapy and the, now infamous, tool of Somatic Tracking. In this episode we talk about Vanessa's own recovery from chronic migraine and we get into the nuts and bolts of 'what exactly is pain reprocessing therapy?'. Listen in to find out more about chronic pain recovery and why you should focus on the tools that feel good and safe to your nervous system.
