I Could Have Been A VP But I Had To Dance with Sandi Scheuber

49m · Creative at the Wheel · 19 Apr 23:04

Sandi Scheuber has lived parallel lives, one as a systems engineer for a large organization and the other as a dancer and choreographer. She has experienced times of great courage putting dance first along with many years of dance being after hours only.

Here she shares with Julie the value of purposefully not advancing up the ladder in her life as an engineer in order to make real time for her dancing life.

This is not a story of leaving everything behind to follow one's passions. This is a story of how one woman took the safe career path but has also boldly followed through on her dream of dancing, letting her passion lead the way.

Barbara Snow was born and lived most of her life in the States; she now lives in Villa Banba, Ecuador with her dogs and is a writer of what her friends call "science faction", crafting stories of process that enlighten and entertain. She has written and published around 20 books.

From Zimbabwe To Scotland Against All Odds, Making and Teaching Art with Donald Hargrove

Donald Hargrove's most recent collection of digital paintings "The Landscape of Origins" is an exquisite testimony to his connection to nature and the essence of life.

From a young age, Donald Hargrove knew he wanted to be an artist. Born and raised in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia then), Donald's life was shaped by deep friendships with his neighbors, his love of the land, and the joy he first experienced at the Mzilikazi Art Centre.

Most recently, he survived extraordinary surgeries that saved his life from a disease that took his right arm, shoulder girdle and major musculature on one side, and reconnected him with his love of art making during the intense lockdowns of Covid in Scotland.

He is exhibiting again, and shares his journey of healing and creative discovery here with Julie.

My Surprising Life With Poetry with David Coleman

David has been a ski patroller, has skied 21,000 feet in the Andes, has travelled to Tibet, Peru and to other parts of the world, has been a full time potter, an inventor and more recently a school bus driver. Through all of his different iterations, poetry has come with him, and has given him a sense of purpose and a way to explore the world that keeps him sane and gives him a soulful way to be with people and be seen.

David shares what it was like to eventually meet Robert Bly and Mary Oliver and how his own poetry has developed over the years and how what he calls "the language of dreams" shapes his poetry life now.

David's relaxed and yet potent experience with reading and writing poems is a refreshing and accessible lifelong journey, full of many surprises.

Gathering The Forces of Friends and Art Making with Poet Joan Logghe.

Joan Logghe has lived a life of poetry in La Puebla, New Mexico.

Santa Fe's poet laureate from 2010-2012, she is an exuberant story teller and well known around the world for her poetry and her art classes.

In this conversation with Julie, she shares her experience of dealing with the harshest of realities—that of clinical depression. In the last couple of years, Joan let go of writing and everything she had been doing as her daily life reinvented itself around the simplest of pleasures and good friendships. Her story is an uplifting testimony to how the Universe can step in when we have no idea what to do.
