Episode 028: Serial Entrepreneurship & Finding Your Business Bestie with Amanda Dare

1h 18m · There She Grows · 04 Feb 16:42

I’m so excited to have my business wifey and fellow serial entrepreneur, Amanda Dare, on the show today! Amanda has single handedly built multiple businesses, but you might know her as the founder and owner of the local sustainable and ethical fashion boutique, The New Blak, as well as The Woman-Owned Wallet feminist gift shop. If there is someone who believes “this is going to work” even more than me, it’s Amanda Dare! Amanda and I met at a point in our lives where we were both running a business out of a truck, and now that we’ve come so far, we want to share our journey with you!

In this episode of There She Grows, we’re focusing on the importance of friendships in the entrepreneur community. Having someone who understands what you’re going through as a woman in the business world is incredibly powerful and reassuring. The entrepreneur lifestyle can be very isolating, especially when your friends aren’t entrepreneurs themselves. Before I met Amanda, I was really craving friendships with women who were going through the same experiences as me, and I am so thankful I manifested a relationship with someone who is willing to be honest and forthcoming about how difficult and how beautiful it is to be an entrepreneur. When you have to make all the difficult decisions and bear the weight of entrepreneurship, it’s so refreshing to have someone else in that discussion who understands your journey.

In addition to the importance of female friendships in the business world, we’re also discussing Amanda’s personal journey as a female small business owner as well as topics that are crucial for any entrepreneur, including the lessons Amanda and I have learned from having multiple businesses and starting them from the ground up. In this episode, you’ll learn more about investing in yourself, where to find support within the entrepreneurial community, shifting your mindset about debt, how to learn from your mistakes, and more!

Want to follow Amanda's journey as an entrepreneur and all-around boss babe? You can find Amanda on Instagram @littleblakbook and her businesses @shopthenewblak and @womanowned.wallet!

Episode 027: 3 Books to Help You Uplevel Your Money Mindset & Manifest More Money

I have always been a big reader, but over the last few years, I set a goal to read more business and personal development books. This really started when I began my mindset and manifesting journey. I went on a mission to consume as much information as I possibly could, and I noticed several books that kept popping up as recommendations. I went on to read many of them, and I’m excited to share my favorites with you! In this episode of There She Grows, we’ll discuss my three favorite books for upleveling your money mindset and learning how to manifest more money.  Book 1: You are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero My #1 recommendation to anyone who is just getting started and wants to learn more about money mindset. I loved this book because it’s drawn from the author's personal journey, and it's interwoven with actionable tips that don’t feel unattainable. Every person can relate to this story, and it even comes with helpful journaling prompts and activities! A great book to read over and over again at every level of your money mindset journey.  Book 2: A Happy Pocket Full of Money by David Cameron Gikandi Several manifestation coaches recommended this book, and one of my favorite things about it is that, as you're reading, you’re also affirming! I also love that this book is broken down into digestible bits, meaning you can pick it up and read for a few minutes whenever you have the time. It’s a feel-good book that’s less about a personal journey and more about understanding where true wealth comes from.  Book 3: Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz While the name makes it sound like a difficult read, this book is actually very accessible and fascinating! Manifesting can seem a little unusual and eccentric to some people (which I totally get!), and this book is great at explaining the scientific reasons behind manifesting and why it works! It’s not specifically related to money mindset, but it’s the perfect introduction to manifesting for someone who is a little uncomfortable with the concept.  If you have book recommendations for me, I would love to hear them! Also, if a There She Grows book club is something you might be interested in, slide into my DM’s on Instagram (@jessbledsoe) to let me know!   For links to purchase the books I mentioned in this episode (while supporting local, independent bookstores) head to my Bookshop page. Episode 026: How to Supercharge Your Affirmations

I started using affirmations a few years ago at the beginning of my manifestation journey, and I’ve been affirming myself for a few years now. But recently, I realized I had stopped affirming because the affirmation I had been reciting and trying to manifest had already become so much of what I genuinely believed. But instead of creating new affirmations that would help me continue to grow, I just stopped using them altogether. Affirmations had made such a huge difference in my life and my ability to manifest my desires, so I wanted to continue to use affirmations as a tool in other areas of my life where I could continue to grow. So I decided to create more affirmations and affirm them in the same way I had before. I used to believe that our subconscious made so many decisions on our behalf even though we have no control over it, but what I’ve learned is that we do actually have control over our subconscious and the ability to reprogram our subconscious. It just takes a lot of inner work, which can be achieved through affirmations! Our minds are like an iceberg: 20% of our mind is the conscious part (the top of the iceberg), but 80% of our mind is the subconscious (the underwater piece of the iceberg that you can’t see). We think that the 20% we can see is driving our decisions, but if the 80% is what’s really driving our decision making and our manifesting abilities, then it’s going to take some work to shift those beliefs. If we don’t do the inner work on our subconscious minds, it’s going to be nearly impossible to create a new reality. That's where affirmations come in!  In this episode of There She Grows, we’ll discuss how to successfully manifest your affirmations through repetition, how to continue with your affirmations when it may feel hopeless, and how to create a thorough affirmation statement to supercharge your affirmations! If you have any questions, feel free to slide into my DM’s on Instagram @jessbledsoe, and if you feel comfortable sharing your affirmations with me, I would love to hear them! Please consider leaving a review on iTunes or sharing this episode with a friend so we can get this podcast discovered by more women who are looking to uplevel their lives and their businesses! _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Is one of your goals for 2021 to be more productive. Episode 025: How I Use Time Blocking To Get Shit Done

Happy New Year! Now, I know that we go into the New Year with a “new me” attitude, and we have so many goals and dreams and plans about how this year is going to be different from the last. We're always really excited about these resolutions in the beginning, but we tend to lose track of them or get discouraged over time. But the best way to keep up with these goals and make sure we’re accomplishing them is by time blocking!

We all have 100 million things that we would like to be doing at any given time, but only a few of those things are actually going to move us toward our immediate goals. Time blocking allows us to be really specific and really intentional about our time, so that we can continue to push those goals forward.

I think we all have those moments where we can feel time getting away from us, and at that point, we’re just spending our time putting out fires instead of actually moving closer to our big goal. But with time blocking, when you need to re-center yourself and get back on track, you’ll already have your ideal schedule laid out. With this time-blocked schedule in place for you to fall back on, you’ll always know what you should be committed to accomplishing at any time on any given day.

If you have a schedule that you're trying to follow, even if it's not perfect, even if you're only following it 51% of the time, as long as you're being intentional with your time, you will be much more certain that you are going to achieve those goals that you set for yourself. In this episode of There She Grows, we’re discussing how you can achieve those goals and take back control of your time by creating your ideal, intentional, time-blocked schedule.

Of course, I couldn't mention time blocking without mentioning Pav*r. If you guys haven't heard about Pav*r yet, it’s an app that myself and my husband have developed to specifically assist you with time blocking. Pav*r is a Google Calendar add-on that connects straight to your calendar so that you can start to track how you're spending your time and make better decisions based on that information. Episode 024 - How to Begin Your Meditation Practice in 10 Minutes or Less

When I launched this podcast in April, I had no idea what the rest of this year would bring. I’m excited about 2021, but one thing that 2020 has taught me is the importance of my routine and my meditation practice. We’ve been thrown so many curveballs this year, and it can be so easy to get into that panic spiral. I’ve relied heavily on my meditation practice this year, and I want to make sure everyone has the same access to meditation to help manage and release their negative thoughts.

Last month, I set a goal for myself to do 30 days of consecutive meditation because I had noticed that when I was meditating, my thoughts were a bit scattered, and I didn’t feel as good afterward. I set the 30-day meditation goal for myself because I knew how important it was to keep up with consistent meditation. I also had never meditated for 30 consecutive days, and I really wanted to see what would happen if I could commit to that.

Years ago, before I began meditating, I would start my days with a sense of panic and dread as I woke up and immediately checked the same three things: my email, my bank account, and my social media. If that sounds similar to the way you start your days, I want to teach you how to meditate so you can release that panic and dread. That simple change in how you start your day will positively affect the way the rest of your day goes. If we can start our day differently, we can expect a better outcome out of that day.

In this episode of There She Grows, we’ll discuss what meditation is, the benefits of meditation, how to keep up a consistent meditation schedule, as well as the best ways for you to meditate if you’re a beginner.

If you’re looking for a great guided meditation, here are three of my favorites to get you started:

Abundance Meditation: https://insig.ht/z8RwovvLqcb

Mindful Morning Meditation: https://insig.ht/7klTEpyLqcb

Morning Ease Meditation: https://insig.ht/W4z5iSBLqcb

You can also find great guided meditations as well as a built-in timer for your meditation on the InsightTimer app.
