New Year's resolutions are fine, to each their own, but in this episode I wish to present and discuss an alternative perspective with perhaps a more realistic and practical way of approaching a new year; how we might find greater contentment in the moment while at the same time being open to and working towards our future hopes and aspirations.

What if the sentimental illustrations which normally keep us going were to all fall away? What if we were met with a situation in which logic and intellect could not help us? What if we were faced with a choice in which there was no rational decision procedure? In this episode I share from my own personal experience growing up in Protestant, Non-denominational Christian church, how I immediately after graduating from college volunteered and then worked part-time at one particular church that I found to be very toxic and that I was greatly hurt by. A community that I ultimately walked away from, a group of people and an organization that I realized I would never fit into.

Season 4 of the spooky, nostalgia driven Netflix series, Stranger Things has achieved huge success in terms of widespread popularity. Although the season may have some good lessons to be gleaned, I felt that it served more to follow common tropes found in media and propagate the negative messages which go along with them. In this episode I take a look at a few of these messages that I saw while asking how Season 5 of Stranger Things and beyond might do better to encourage reflection and contemplation and how we as an audience might prompt studio writers and executives to put as much care into this area of production as they do into creating impressive feats of visual effects.

“This is What I’m Doing Now.” We don’t need to have all of the details and have the plan all figured out. We need to be able to take risks. When we don’t succeed it’s not that we failed, it’s that it didn’t quite work out. But we learn from the things that don't work out. Life loses out when we don’t try.
