In this episode of The Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman intervies San Francisco punk rock band Tess & The Details’ about their upcoming album Runaway , out November 14th via Double Helix Records.
The San Francisco punk record kicks off with the anthemic “ Blondie’s Gonna Die ,” in which buzzsaw guitars catapult the listener into the world of Tess & The Details . Tess sings with a self-assured forcefulness, “ When they told me I was crazy / I should've listened / I could have just laid down / Oh the white coats are a comin’ / in straight jackets they’ll be running / all through this damn ghost town… ” There's an air of anti-establishment throughout the album, as “Blondie’s Gonna Die ” is followed by “Canary, ” and then “Runaway,” the album’s title track. “ Runaway ” evokes familiar bands such as Green Day and No Doubt, showcasing Tess’s powerful voice as she belts the rousing chant.

“There are a lot of character-driven songs where we took some of our experiences and filtered them through characters, like ‘ Saint of Purgatory ’ and ‘ Johnny ’,” Tess describes. “We wanted to tell stories that could feel familiar to everyone, but through a witty and dark lyrical lens - like the catchy and melodically light take on mental torture in ‘ Mania .’” Runaway is full of contradictions, reflecting that humanity also embodies such dualities.

FADING NEMESIS, led by the powerhouse vocalist FARAH NAZ, is set to drop her re-imagined rendition of Oliver Anthony Music's hit track, "RICH MEN NORTH OF RICHMOND," across all major streaming platforms on Friday, November 10th.
According to Naz, especially in these disjointed days, "music is the only sensical language that can express our deepest feelings, give our lives palliative hope and unite us, as a human race. Atlanta-based hard rock band PISTOLS AT DAWN released their latest single "FLY" (Radio Edit) to radio. The single made it's debut on the Mediabase Rock Top 40 at 39 this week! In addition the band announced a UK Tour with FOZZY in February 2024!

BAD WOLVES arrived with the rarity and the force of a lightning bolt in 2018. Now, BAD WOLVES redefine their sound by burning everything down on their fourth full-length LP, DIE ABOUT IT .
“We definitely challenged ourselves to experiment, but we maintained a heavier edge,” notes John . “We spent a lot of time making sure these songs weren’t all the same, which was important to us. We tried to push the possibilities of what you can do with heavy music. This is as fresh of a start as you can get on your fourth album.”

After joining the group prior to Dear Monsters , DL locked into a creative groove on DIE ABOUT IT . This time around, he greatly contributed to the lyrics and the overall process. Meanwhile, the collective nodded to inspirations as diverse as The 1975 and Meshuggah. Gelling everything together, John and DL co-produced the album with trusted collaborator Josh Gilbert [As I Lay Dying].
“Nobody is against any idea in the studio,” says DL . “That’s the most beautiful thing about this. There’s no limitations. We went to the far ends of the really soft and the extreme. We made it a point to separate ourselves from the past and make this our own.”
