Today, I am joined by my sister-in-law and local Fine Gael candidate, Sharon Tolan, in the run-up to our local elections. Although I am not politically minded, every day, I am in awe of the passion and energy this lady has in pursuing the greater good of the local community. Only this morning, I enjoyed a 10km walk with her on a beautiful beach devoid of cars because she was brave enough to campaign for their removal from our beaches. I remember the day I looked in the mirror, and it dawned on me that I had been living a lie. I had lived all my life thinking I had my mum's eyes. Our police force is in crisis, and our criminal justice system has effectively collapsed.
