Stuart Diver
45m · PublishedStuart Diver is a name that most Australians over the age of 40 would know.
He's the only survivor of the Thredbo tragedy in 1997 which claimed 18 lives, including his wife Sally.
Stuart remarried Rosanna a few years later and lived at Thredbo with their daughter Alessia until Rosanna died of breast cancer in 2015.
I found talking to Stuart truly inspirational – how he has dealt with grief, his amazingly positive attitude about this life and all it has to offer and what he has to say about love is truly heartwarming.
Just such a privilege to have this conversation with Stuart.

Guy Leech
36m · PublishedGuy Leech, Australian Ironman legend and fitness guru, talks about the death of his close friend – Nine Network reporter Charles ‘Chucky ‘ Stewart.
Chucky was on the water with Guy and others in the weekly paddling sessions , when he felt unwell and returned to shore.
When the group returned to shore a member of the group noticed somebody on the ground receiving CPR – it was Chuck.
Guy jumped and in and took over he CPR until the ambulance arrived. Chuck never regained consciousness and died a few days later.
That was 2016 – today Guy is the Founder of Heart 180 – its mission is to get a defibrillator onto those who suffer a heart attack within 3 minutes of the event – timing is critical in saving lives.

Jock Cheetham
41m · PublishedLast year I read a piece in The Guardian by Jock Cheetham titled – “When my partner died I couldn’t ask for help. I’m sharing in the hope others will reach out”
Jock talks to the struggles he had reaching out to people after the death of Neroli his partner. His article received much reaction from those who know him – strangely, it was those who reached out the most – who contacted Jock apologising – wishing they could have done more.

Derek Guille

Richard Crawley
34m · PublishedBorn in England, emigrated to Australia in 1973, Richard Crawley is a self-taught photographer, singer in two rock-bands, Grand-father, Father, Widower and great friend of mine.
Now living in picturesque Tower Hill, Victoria, there is not much this man can't do.
Richard's energy is contagious and undeniably more so when he performs on stage.
Well known for his remarkable film photography, countless shirtless performances, his friendliness and vivacity for life.
The pinnacle of his successes began in 1973 at Kooyong, arguably taking one of the most iconic photos of Mick Jagger to this day, taken on his film camera, with the fake press pass he made, as he couldn't afford the ticket.
However, in 2009, life took a turn for the worst and Richard lost his beloved wife of 30 plus years, Carol.
Richard credits his remarkable son and best friend, James, the power of music, creativity and spiritual faith in his healing process. Richard speaks of grief as a journey that we learn to live with, noting this extraordinary life is worth celebrating and living to the fullest.

Emma and Steve
44m · PublishedSteve and Emma Watty, of South West Victoria, lost their baby girl Sylvie in her sleep at just 15 months old, to SIDS.
They embark on a raw and open conversation about the tragic death and the moments and weeks after.
Now, seven years on, Steve and Emma are living a sunshiny life in honour of their loved and remembered, 'Sylvie Sunshine'.
Both Steve and Emma are the epitome of strength and courage and their positivity and zest for life is nothing short of inspiring.
Steve and Emma discuss the important role the Red Nose Foundation played in the moments after Sylvie's death, along side the Police, The Ambulance Officers and The Royal Children's Hospital and the overwhelming amount of support they received from everyone- family, friends, schools, work, community members and more.
Steve and Emma talk about normalising speaking about Sylvie with people after her passing.
Steve received a message from his boss at the Alfred Hospital 9am the following morning, 'Of course we are here for you, come back whenever you're ready, we are just letting you know, all your after hour shifts have been covered until Christmas', this was on September 9th.
They discuss how camping, being in nature, sunsets, sunrise, the open fire, have all become rituals for them after the loss of Sylvie.

Brett Ratten
35m · PublishedBrett Ratten, former AFL player and now head coach, talks openly about the death of his son Cooper in a tragic car accident five years ago.
As well as the support he has received from his workplaces and friends.
One story that sticks out in particular from the conversation is how St.Kilda F.C. provided a very special moment for Brett in early 2020.
Support immediately after the event is very important but Brett discusses the importance of the ongoing support for anyone who's lost a loved one.
He offers advice to people who are grieving and some perspective on how the little things can make such a big difference.
