30m · Published 07 Jan 13:48

Due to getting busy and limited resources, your business growth rate can often stall or plateau shortly after launching your business.

So, what happens after the honeymoon period of starting a business? How do you continue that same rate of business growth?

What is the silver bullet that some business owners seem to have found?

Running a business can be like climbing a mountain and as many mountaineers will tell you, getting to 1st base camp is the easier part. Going past that is the bigger and harder challenge.

Gary Lumby MBE shares his secrets to scaling a business. Currently helping 24 business owners across the UK and running three companies of his own. Gary knows a thing about growing and scaling a business.

Gary explains  5 essential resources you need to grow a business, how you need to take informed risks but can avoid taking a gamble on your future.

After receiving an OBE from the Queen for his services to financial services, Gary left the industry, but how did he get 6 of his clients to call and ask for help immediately? What did Gary do to build a personal brand?

One of my favourite parts you've got to listen to in this podcast is Gary dispelling the myth of having to niche your business and in fact, you probably shouldn't.

These are just a few of the important topics we discuss with Gary in this episode.

25m · Published 24 Nov 14:16

Have you ever wondered how some people achieve so much?

Time Management is probably one of the most searched for terms or training requested, which is crazy really because you can't manage time. No matter what you do, the clock will tick one second after the other. It is in fact the one equal currency we all have.

So, why do some people, famous people like Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Richard Branson, (the list could go on) achieve so much?

When us mere mortals struggle. It's not because of a magic time machine, I don't think so anyway!

In this episode Victoria Maguire explains the processes she uses with her clients so they can achieve more by doing less.

We also explore how society gives the impression we should be doing more and more; and a  lot of us are failing because of this constant hamster wheel.

Victoria is really open and honest about how she learnt the hard way. Victoria, wants you to learn from her mistakes, so you can maybe save your life from crashing like hers did. It's a story of how her home fell apart and the inevitable divorce occurred, but she believes by following the advice in this podcast you will learn how to prevent this before it's to late.

Ep7 - How James Powys left the corporate world to create his own destiny

26m · Published 18 Mar 18:59

By listening to other peoples stories we can learn so much. Just other a year ago James Powys left a secure and comfortable role at Britvic to set up his own business. With the standard long list of commitments like looking after family and paying the bills, how did James find the motivation, energy and commitment to step outside his comfort zone and into a world of the unknown.

You may have already set up your own business or are just thinking about it, whichever one you are, there is something in this interview for us all to learn from.

James explains the planning and preparation he did years prior to going self employed and then how he test two business models he had conceived.

I recommend after listening to the journey James went though - take a couple of minutes to reflect on your journey. Where are you now and where do you want to be? What will your journey be like and what obstacles can you already see?

In just over a year James has created a successful business and he did this through foresight and utilising his network.

Ep5 - Valuable lesson from a customer who made me cry

20m · Published 10 Dec 18:33
I'm a great believer of 'everything in life has a lesson - if you look for it'. While I didn't realise it at the time a horrible customer encounter around 1997 taught me everything I needed to know about buyer personas. Even though the customer made me cry (listen to discover how) I still learnt so much. Unconsciously as a sales assistant I adapted and changed based on this one customer. There was also an important lesson about leadership and how working with great people can have a massive impact on how you treat other people. Listen now to learn the lesson I did about buyer personas and why they are so important. Once you've listened to this episode, follow this link and uncover your buyers personas. Ep 4 - The Highstreet is not losing because of price

24m · Published 01 Dec 13:08
Using my recent shopping experience I offer my view to why high street shops are closing. The battle isn't being won based on price alone. The media and high street retailers are telling us that they closing because the internet is able to offer cheaper prices. I disagree! While price may play some part for a small selection of customer. The majority of customers are shopping for VALUE and value is based on a massive range of different areas. In this episode you'll discover what they are and how to always get someone to make you a cup of tea.
