Reduce Stress and Anxiety in Yourself and Others with Samantha Clarke

Today, I wanted to lean into all things stress and anxiety. Why? Well, I often hear a lot from my clients that stress is something that has been creeping up to crazy levels over the course of this year. Welcome to another episode and this week we are talking all about how to discover the power of deliberate rest, shorter working hours and managing our digital distraction. I speak with Alex Soojung-Kim Pang, who is the author of the book Shorter, which really distils how we can work better, smarter, and less. He identifies ways in which the four-hour working week has been successfully introduced across different companies, and he really investigates why it's an area that we should lean into a lot more and how the future of work will see us working in a more deliberate manner to increase our productivity and performance without burning out. His other book, Rest, is about why you get more done when you work less. He asks, how can we start to really harness the power of ritualizing and inviting rest into our lives, to become better communicators build stronger relationships and increase our creativity?

Connson Locke is an incredible professional lecturer in management at the London School of Economics, where she teaches on leadership Organisational Behaviour and negotiation. She is also the author of Make Your Voice Heard, with a particular emphasis on how you can boost your presence and your personal impact in the workplace, especially working remotely. We spend quite a bit of time delving into her experience over 30 years, working as an educator and a consultant in the Asia Pacific, North America, Australia and Europe. And so we honed in on a lot of the cross cultural communicational issues and barriers, how we understand and navigate power structures across different cultures. We also look at what it takes to manage upwards more effectively with compassion and empathy, and we delve a little bit deeper into what are some of the knowledge bombs that she's sharing with her students to prepare them for the world of work, and how you can use some of these to really help facilitate growth on your teams and across your company.
