Episode 89: Louise H Reid & Melanie Perry - Military Lifestyle Mentor
54m · PublishedIn 2014, Melanie and her husband were eagerly awaiting the birth of their second son AND another military relocation. It was then that she decided that although she had dreamed of being a teacher since her own childhood, teaching in a conventional classroom wasn’t what she wanted for herself anymore. Between many more future moves and raising her two young sons, Melanie set her sights on something out of the box that would allow her to be a constant for her family in a life of change while still fulfilling her own professional goals. Since then, she has dabbled in network marketing, worked as a civilian for the Department of National Defense, volunteered with the Canadian Military Wives Choir and, most recently Ability Dogs Canada, and begun her own work-from-home Virtual Assistant business.
But Melanie’s newest and arguably most exciting journey is the launch of her own one-of-a-kind business, “This Dandelion Life” – an online space and mentorship program for other military spouses and Moms. Combining her passions for teaching, personal development, mindfulness, and the power of “intentional optimism”, Melanie is linking arms with as many incredible women as she can. She is passionate about sharing the lessons she has learned in her 15 years as a military spouse and helping others learn the power of mastering their own mindset.

Episode 88: Sandi Boucher, Indigenous Speaker/Activist/Author
1h 0m · PublishedAn internationally recognized and much-loved speaker, thought leader, television host, seminar facilitator and best-selling author in her own right, Sandi has dedicated most of her life to Indigenous inclusion, empowerment, and engagement and in the last decade, she has added Canadian reconciliation to her mission.
Known for her passionate and empowering speaking style that speaks "to hearts, not minds", Sandi brings a much needed "Indigenous lens" to the Canadian conversation, as she is a proud member of Seine River First Nation in northern Ontario, Canada. But Sandi has made Thunder Bay, Ontario her home for more than 25 years, a city nationally recognized for its anti-Indigenous racism. Yet she was named both the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year and the Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund Business Woman of the Year in 2016, proving that she knows how to build bridges even in the most challenging of situations.
Sandi's audiences include elementary, secondary, and post-secondary schools; colleges and universities; First Nation communities and agencies; mainstream municipalities and businesses, along with countless national, international, and regional conferences.
