What drove you to apply for that role?  What did you envision?  It's one thing to depart an organization due to mistreatment or for upward growth/mobility but it's another thing to walk away because "winter has come".  As we hear the rumblings that 2022 might start off a bit rocky, are you already preparing your exit because you didn't sign up for storms?  Let's go back to why you decided to lead and look at the "WE" factor impact of your decision to walk away, rather than staying and fighting through the storm, with the people who need you the most.

When Leaders Encourage Toxic Behavior It Creates Unsafe Workplaces

Imagine being told you are being released from your job, while being supported at a mental health clinic, following a suicide attempt. This was the real-life experience of a military member who was given this by their leadership, who drove 4 hours to give them this paperwork.  Although, they have been released as the leader, other leaders encouraged this behavior. The environment was unhealthy and many still fear retaliation.

Should mental health be normalized in the workplace? Who is responsible for taking that lead?

How are leaders held accountable at all tiers to ensure effectiveness?
