In honor of Women's History Month, I am joined by the amazing Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz! You may know her as the daughter of Charles Schwab, but Carrie is a very passionate and active leader in the financial literacy space herself. Carrie is a CFP and the current President & Board Chair at Charles Schwab Foundation. 

In this episode she dives into stories of her upbringing, lessons she wishes she had learned earlier about money, what advice she offers young people today and why she believes personal finance is a social justice issue today. This week we hear from the awe-inspiring Poulomi Damany, who I first heard speak at a virtual event back in 2018 when she was the VP of Product Management at Credit Karma. Not only has she since moved to the role of General Manager of Assets and Tax at Credit Karma, (#levelup) but she has continued to be one of the leading women of color in tech that I admire!

Prior to joining Credit Karma, Poulomi spent a year with the US Digital Service, the swat team that came in to rescue Healthcare.gov. She learned that bad technology was truly holding people back from getting the basic health services they needed and committed to being an agent for change in the private sector by leveraging technology to help improve people's lives.

Eryn Schultz became passionate about helping women with MBA's achieve their financial goals while completing her own MBA at Harvard Business School. She learned that women own only $0.32 for every $1.00 owned by men and in her own MBA program she realized that she learned to manage a corporation's finances but not her own. Eryn became motivated to get educated and to educate as many other women as she could!

Isabella is hands-down one of the coolest people I've ever met! A true independent thinker and free spirit who knew early on that urban living in NYC was not where she would thrive. Isabella moved to California and has been living in her van for years in order to make payments of $2,000 or more every month. 

She is officially debt-free as of October 2021 and now plans to travel and dive into crypto and defi. I was incredibly impressed with Izzi because of her maturity and wisdom, which are far beyond her 30 years! She's such an inspirational person because of her outlook on life and her ability to shine no matter what struggles she's been faced with in her life. 

Isabella opens up about: pros and cons of living in a van, glamorization of #vanlife, her upbringing in the Bronx, her favorite personal finance channels, crypto and why she believes it is the future, her plans to travel now that she is debt-free and her passion for psychology and why she believes every child deserves and needs to learn about how the brain works when they're in school.

This is the 4th episode that highlights a Latina in honor of Latinx Heritage Month and it was such a fun chat with Gina from @inanewyorkbudget. Gina is such a real one - she shares her reflections about growing up "spoiled" where her parents would get her the things she wanted and she never thought much about the money. Once she was old enough to begin helping out and earning money on her own, she tasted true independence and realized that it meant she would have to provide the money for the lifestyle she wanted to live and maintain without help from her parents! 

Listen as Gina breaks down the vacation savings fund for 2020 that ended up putting her and some family members in a really good place financially before the pandemic hit. Vanessa Salas Collins is a high school teacher in California who is also an advocate for a required financial literacy class in school. She breaks down what she teaches to her students in her financial education class and tells us why it's such a challenge to make personal finance required in school. She also dives into her personal story as a first-generation Latina growing up with a lot of shame about her culture and her financial situation.

Maribel is a recent college grad whose family is based in California and has Mexican roots. She is very proud of being Latina and wants everyone in the Latinx community, especially the Spanish speaking population to know that investing to build wealth is for them, too!
