Music On Your Own Terms 136 - Fotis Delinikolas - The Djstinguished Djentleman

We head back to Greece this episode for a chat with and incredible session guitarist, Fotis Delinikolas, who, after being ridiculously busy touring with various bands and pop singers, has finally had the time during Covid, to record a solo instrumental album, which by the way, seriously rips! Fotis talks about his musical upbringing, his career with two of Greece's most well known singers, touring and recording with a band signed to Sony Music, and now working with my good friend Ria, to promote his first solo release, Alma. We also take another trip down the guitar gear rabbit hole.....because, I tend to do that, Fotis gives his tips on how someone might go about becoming a session musician, and finally he talks about which guitar he might choose if he was offered an endorsement deal.

Music On Your Own Terms 133 "Cas Weinbren - The Architecture Of A Career In Music"

Music On Your Own Terms 133 - Cas Weinbren - The Architecture Of A Career In Music

In this episode I chat to New York based keyboard player and producer Cas Weinbren of See See Beats. Cas talks about his musical upbringing, becoming trained in classical and jazz on the piano, and then diving head first into the music industry to take any opportunity that has come his way. We also learn about Cas' love of architecture and project management, and how he invests in real estate and construction projects, as well as using those project management skills to apply to his music career, whether that is in the recording studio producing music with hip hop artists or creating music for sync licensing opportunities. Finally we hear how Cas is creating new opportunities for older or more obscure musicians from the past to be discovered by new audiences with the help of sampling, as well as how he feels there is a distinct lack of transparency with streaming royalties and sync royalties alike.

55m · Published 17 Aug 11:00

Music On Your Own Terms 132 - Charlie PS - Ghosts, Tattoos, & Alt Rock

This episode I talk to alt-rock singer-songwriter Charlie PS, from Vancouver, Canada. She talks about how her dad encouraged her love of music from a young age, coincidentally when they lived in the UK, the move to Canada, graduating music college, as well as the influences that have shaped her sound. We learn about the highs of 2019 where Charlie played a run of memorable shows and festivals, to the lows of COVID, which left Charlie uninspired and at a low point with her mental health. Charlie goes on to discuss the events that turned this low point around, to the positive outlook she has now, and her various inspirations for upcoming music and collaborations, including some with her boyfriend Johnny, himself a musician. Finally Charlie regales us with the story of how she got a tattoo of a radio station logo, to have a shot of winning a large sum of money that she hoped to put towards her music career.
