Episode 30 (end of season two): Making a Traveling Lifestyle a Reality with Kristin Vierra

25m · Published 30 Aug 08:45

Most of us have daydreamed about being able to take time away from our work and the other responsibilities to see the world. It might seem like a fantasy, but it’s pretty close to reality for today’s guest, Kristin Vierra.

Kristin is a digital nomad and a life and career coach at Ama la Vida. And while she didn’t leave all her responsibilities behind, she’s been able to make her work life fit into her traveling lifestyle.

Today, she’s telling us what that’s like--the dream and the challenges that come with it--and sharing some of her best tips and advice for life on the road.

We talk about:

*What Kristin’s day-to-day life is like when she’s traveling and working

*The logistics of a nomadic lifestyle

*How to decide what to pack for long trips with no set itinerary

*Tips for staying safe while traveling abroad

*Advice for others who are interested in adopting this type of lifestyle

This episode is the last of Season 2. I’ll be taking a longer podcast break as I need some time to take care of myself and prepare for more content to share with you. Please be sure to sign up for my updates, so we can stay connected!

Episode 29: Mrs. Thompson and Teddy - A story of kindness and encouragement

11m · Published 23 Aug 08:44

In an effort to stay inspired, I’m sharing a fictional story with you written by Elizabeth Ballard and published in HomeLife magazine in 1976. It’s an old tale that I love and find inspirational. The story also reflected our tendency to make assumptions and that learning opportunities are all around us. I want to believe that a similar story did happen in real life. And, all we need is a reminder that our action matters and kindness and encouragement can make a difference in someone’s life.

I’ll be taking a longer podcast break after next week’s episode. I need some time to take care of myself and prepare for more content to share with you. Please be sure to sign up for my updates, so we can stay connected.

Episode 28: Finding Love and Happiness in Relationships with Gabby Valdes

37m · Published 16 Aug 08:15

The similarities between dating and running a business are pretty undeniable. Both require confidence in yourself, a deep belief in your own worth, and a willingness to put yourself out there--even when it feels uncomfortable.

Just ask today’s guest, dating coach Gabby Valdes.

I loved chatting with Gabby about all things dating. She offers some amazing advice for singles who are looking for love--especially those who are looking to get back out there after taking a break during the Pandemic.

(She answers some questions I have--and some great questions submitted from listeners. Thanks so much for submitting your questions!)

Even if you’re in a committed relationship, you’ll learn a lot from Gabby. Managing relationships, after all, is one of the biggest keys to a happy life--whether it’s with your romantic partner, a friend or family member, or a work colleague.

Here are a few other highlights from today’s episode:

*Gabby’s journey to finding love and why she loves coaching others to do the same

*Why vulnerability and authenticity in dating (and everything else!) is so important

*Warning signs that a romantic relationship might not be healthy and how to avoid some common pitfalls

*What Gabby’s biggest challenges have been in running a dating coaching business

Episode 27: Great leaders are made with Jen Maynard/Ama La Vida

17m · Published 09 Aug 08:15

Today we are talking about leadership styles. This episode is great for current leaders and aspiring leaders in the companies. The audio you are about to hear is taken from a webinar called Great Leaders Aren't Born, They're Made! Hosted by Jen Maynard, Ama La Vida’s leadership coach. Jen talks about two types of leaders - The Get Sh*t Done Leader and The People First Leader, and what their strengths and blind spots are. There is also an assessment associated with this topic. The information is meant to help people assess their own leadership style and learn what makes a great leader and the steps they can take to become one.  I really enjoyed this webinar, so I wanted to share it with you.

Episode 26: Ironing out the kinks - The journey of entrepreneurship with Cortney Toll

23m · Published 02 Aug 08:15

Today’s guest, Courtney Toll, is the Co-Founder and CEO of Nori, an innovative new steam iron, removing the hassle traditionally associated with ironing.

She came up with the idea for the Nori press, which is loosely based on a hair straightener, when she was living in a cramped apartment in NYC. She wanted to look her best, but didn’t have room to set up an ironing board or deal with a steamer. So, she had to improvise--and that meant getting wrinkles out of her clothes with a straightening iron meant for hair.

That spirit of innovation and determination to make things work has served her well on the path of entrepreneurship. As she explains in this episode, there are so many challenges, especially when you start a company during a pandemic.

She shares what drives her, how she managed her risks with her risk-averse personality, and gives some advice for others who are interested in becoming entrepreneurs, too.

Episode 25: An honest conversation about being a fitness professional with Alyson Young

28m · Published 26 Jul 08:10

Today’s guest is Alyson Young, a full-time movement professional in New York City who I became friends with when we went through an advanced yoga teacher training together.

Alyson started as a dancer and fell into the fitness world as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer to pay her bills. At one time that meant working 7 jobs at once to make ends meet!

She shares how she found a more sustainable path--one that allowed for some downtime AND gave her overworked body a rest! Plus, her thoughts on diet culture, how an undiagnosed eating disorder informs her perspective as a fitness professional, and advice to others interested in this career path.

It’s a great reminder that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to fitness or creating a fulfilling and sustainable career.

Episode 23: Live your dreams inside and outside of Corporate America with Karen A. Clark

27m · Published 12 Jul 12:15

Karen A. Clark is a multifaceted woman, a matriarch, a professional, an artist, and a philanthropist. She’s also the multicultural strategies manager at City National Bank.

One of the things that impresses me most about Karen is her unique ability to merge her “buttoned up” professional role in finance with her creative side as a musician, artist, and author. She also coaches others to live their dreams, both inside and outside of Corporate America. In this episode, she explains how these two sides of her personality have driven her and helped her to make huge impacts in the world.

If you’re striving to find more balance in your life, this will be an inspiring and motivational listen for you.

Episode 22: Three holistic approaches to create a positive change - Peggy's solo episode

11m · Published 05 Jul 08:10

A short solo episode where I shared the three holistic approaches I took to create a positive change in my life. The first step is to take care of the body and quiet the mind. The second step is to set intentions and goals based on positive emotions (aka feeling-based goals). Last, use the power of manifestation.

If you resonate with my approaches and wish to receive more support, please reach out to me. If you like the topic of manifestation, I have a couple of events coming up on this topic in July and September. Sign-Up to be on my mailing list so I can share these updates with you. If you enjoyed today’s episode or this show, please leave me a review and help me spread the word. Thank you so much!

Episode 21: How to Avoid Burnout with Sara Dawson

16m · Published 28 Jun 08:10

Did you know burnout is now recognized as a medical diagnosis? Gallup, the management consultant company did a survey with more than 7,500 full-time employees, and 23 percent said they felt burned out more often than not.  An additional 44 percent reported feeling burned out sometimes.  So, basically, nearly two-thirds of full-time workers are dealing with burnout at some point while at work. Today, I have my fellow Ama La Vida coach Sara Dawson on the show to talk about this modern-day medical condition and what we can do to manage it. Sara is a health and career coach with Ama La Vida, and she wrote a blog about this topic that provided great tips.
