Episode 19: A modern non-alcoholic aperitivo for moments you want to remember with Lily Geiger.

18m · Published 14 Jun 08:10

I want to introduce you to Lily Geiger. Lily is the founder of Figlia, a modern non-alcoholic aperitivo created for moments you want to remember.

Lily started her career working for Beautycounter in Los Angeles then a small boutique retail agency, working with clients like Summer Fridays, Heyday and APL. The experience working with new companies made her realize she would start her own business one day. Enter: Figlia!

In this episode, Lily talks about her path to becoming an entrepreneur and shares many valuable lessons and insights she’s learned along the way.

She also shares the story behind Figlia, which explains her mission and the drive she has for the non-alcoholic beverage space. Losing her father to alcoholism when she was 20 years old, made a huge impact on the way she sees the world.

And, of course, watching someone so close to her struggle with addiction and choose alcohol over family every time made her more aware of the need for additional support and more non-alcoholic drink options on the market.

She hopes Figlia will fill that need and raise awareness about alcoholism, too.

A little spoiler alert, sexual harassment still happens even though most people are not working in the office due to the pandemic. Nikki and I also shared our personal encounter with sexual harassment in the workplace and discussed the guilt of not speaking up about the incident. The bigger goal of today’s episode is to keep bringing awareness to the issue and learning about the potential ways to deal with the situation. Episode 15: Action builds confidence with April Frazier

29m · Published 17 May 08:15

Today, we are chatting with April Frazier, the founder/CEO of FRWD Confidence Coaching. April calls herself a lane changer who left her full-time job as an entrepreneur to create a life that she loves. Before this invigorating transition, April was in technology for 18 years as a software developer and led a team. As a double minority, April thought studying computer science and being a software developer was the right career strategy. The career path trained her to depend on her logical mind, but she later discovered that leaning into her intuition gives her so much more personal power.  April now helps others reinvent themselves, translate their skills from one discipline to another, and learn to turn their weaknesses into strengths so that they can sustainably launch and grow their purpose-driven business. April is here to tell her story and share with us how to develop more confidence.

Today’s show is a solo episode where I talk about the time when I got disinvited to a work event and what I chose to do at the end. The emphasis is self-advocacy. The episode ends with a loving-kindness meditation* and self-affirmations that remind my listeners to speak up, do the right thing, and believe that their feelings and voice do matter. This episode is also the conclusion of season one. Her Path to Success will resume in May 2021.

If you enjoyed today’s episode, please subscribe/follow and share it with your friends and family. Thank you!

*The loving-kindness meditation is inspired by the book, Buddha’s Brain by Rick Hanson, and the spinoff that my meditation teacher Andrea Ferretti did in my advanced yoga teacher training.
