Get on the Right Track and Stay There

I love working with people who are excited to find their way, make their mark, and who have a ton of energy overall. That’s exactly what I found in Mike Jones. Mike started working with me a little over a month ago, and he’s the guest star on the RedRock Leadership podcast. I believe you will really enjoy Mike’s perspective of our training.

Before we get started, here’s a little bit of background.  Mike’s at the front end of his career and he’s a real go-getter. He’s currently the Operations Manager for BryCoat, a metallurgical coatings company headquartered in Oldsmar, Florida. He’s also a real estate investor and CEO of Property Kings, a real estate lead generation service.

Mike’s the type of guy who’s always looking to push things forward. However, what’s most important to Mike is that he finds ways to touch more lives, help more people, and to know that he’s giving 110% every day. That’s why he’s submerged himself in our leadership training.

He’s a little more than halfway through Take the Lead!TM, our premier leadership +management training series. Listen to what Mike has to say after attending the first five sessions, Build & Sustain Mental Toughness, Build Positive Relationships, Create Actionable Goals, Leverage Your Time and Motivate Your Team.

Check out this episode of the RedRock Leadership podcast to hear us discuss:

How Important is a Leader's Emotional Intelligence?

14m · Published 15 Oct 09:00

How Important is a Leader’s Emotional Intelligence?

Emotional intelligence is a key ingredient in all of the leadership training that I create. I refer to emotional intelligence as one’s ability to manage their own emotions, and the emotions of those around them, during difficult to manage situations. Emotions are powerful and when leveraged, they can properly guide our actions throughout the day, especially when times are tough.

Our emotional intelligence can be measured through a TTI EQ Assessmentthat measures our EQ, our emotional quotient. In my opinion, leaders should consistently be working to improve their EQ.  Why? Because leaders need high intrapersonal skills in order to have effective interpersonal skills.  The intrapersonal skills help them to govern themselves, while the interpersonal skills help them to lead those around them to positive growth.  Both skill sets work together and are a key part of emotional intelligence. Without that high EQ, leaders can find themselves unsure of how to reach those around them, and unable to meet their own goals.

Having a high EQ might sound all well and good, but how does someone raise their EQ?  Let me start by saying that it takes time. No one is going to successfully raise their EQ if they aren’t willing to slow down and put in dedicated time.  If you are willing to do that, great! I know that you can see your EQ rise and see your day-to-day attitude and goal achievement rise with it.

Listen to my new podcast, “How Important is a Leader’s Emotional Intelligence?” for a more in-depth conversation on this topic.  I’ll discuss 5 key EQ skills and break them down into the intrapersonal and interpersonal to show how they support and build on each other, talk about the importance of thinking before acting, and provide some resources to help get you started today.

Lead Don't Manage!

16m · Published 30 Sep 09:00

What is the difference between leadership and management? It’s a question everyone is asking. Type it into Google and you’ll receive just over two hundred million results. If you ask me, I’’ll tell you that leadership is conceptual, management is tactical and there’s a strong demand in today’s culture for great leaders.

How do you become a great leader? I think one of the best places to start is with clearly defining your company’s core values. Your core values are derived from your fundamental beliefs. They are guiding principles that shape your character and guide your actions. Core values will help you separate right from wrong; they will help you determine if you are on the right path in leading others. They give business owners and leaders a foundation from which to lead, and give their team a guiding star to assist them in making the best choices for themselves and the business.

Three core values is all any company needs. In this podcast, Lead Don’t Manage, I share practical ways to define your company’s core values - and let you know why you don’t need to put trustworthiness and honesty on the list. I also talk about how to share the core values with your team, and how to deal with someone who’s not committing to those core values. Listen today and let me know if you want more information on how to grow as a leader.

Who is RedRock Leadership?

16m · Published 20 Aug 17:00

If you know anything about RedRock Leadership, you know that we believe in growing companies by growing the people inside those companies.  How we do that is what sets us apart from the other leadership development companies out there. My story starts in Ohio, a desire to find sunshine, and a supportive wife who challenged me to get back to what I do best.  It’s a story that, as of yet has no ending, a story of a business and a legacy that is reaching people around the world. How?

Well, I knew that my highest and best use lay in helping people. I wanted to inspire people and knew there was a growing demand for leaders who wanted to become great.  So, I set out to learn everything I could about what defines great leaders, and how to enable people to grow into great leaders.

Jumping forward, I determined that if I was going to develop the best leadership development program in the world, it would need to be grounded in emotional intelligence.  I use emotional intelligence to fuel my own leadership and business growth and gets a charge out of seeing others grow their business by growing their teams, thanks RedRock Leadership.

What does emotional intelligence help you do? What kinds of clients and businesses are turning to RedRock Leadership? Is it true that I will be publishing a book soon? To get these details and more, check out my inaugural podcast episode Who Is RedRock Leadership?
